Hope you got up and out greenbee!
I sorted food and my bag for tomorrow. Had a chat with my sister in the phone for an hour - my eldest nephew is moving out to go to university tomorrow so she's trying to distract herself because he's not remotely interested in taking about it(or packing - he reckons all hello needed is the PlayStation and his laptop - although they have now convinced him to take some bedding 😂 thankfully he's not going far!)
Also managed to unpack while I was on the phone so that's something 😂
Checked TCB and have withdrawn £9.39 (from booking our Irish holiday cottage, back in March 🙄). Only waiting for £1.14 in there now.
No sign of a yougov survey - I expect I'll be waiting for my final 10p till about Christmas 🙄😂7 -
Dentist fiasco continues.
I finally have an appointment for tooth removal at hospital (because the root goes into the sinus). Was referred in January. Tooth is attached to bridge, and there's no suitable other tooth to attach to. On the other side, I need a filling, but that tooth is also attached to a bridge, which the filling will dislodge
So I will have a plate, with 3 teeth on - two current bridges plus the hospital removal tooth.
Back in January they did impressions and made a denture/plate (it makes me feel marginally less bad calling it a plate!)
Rang dentist to inform I had hospital date, and therefore to book to have filling done and bridge removed, so plate could go in after. Booked for Thursday.
They rang back this morning saying 'could you pop down today? We need to check we have the right tooth in the denture'... 🙄😬
So I've had a very disrupted afternoon. Yes, the denture has one tooth in the wrong place. They're blaming the lab (rather than the dentist who ordered it, who has now left) - but it was made in January and clearly nobody has checked it.
So today they spent 45 minutes trying to get the bridge off, so they can do a filling on Thursday. I've been avoiding crusty bread for over a year - unnecessarily, it turns out, because it took them 45 mins of drilling and literally bashing my tooth with a hammer to get the darn thing off. Poor dentist was so frustrated, and kept saying 'oh COME ON!!' 😬
It's finally off, although there's still metal attached to the back which they'll remove on Thursday. And the lab might not have my new denture back in time as they have a 2 week turnaround. I did point out that perhaps they could ask for an express service since it was (supposedly) their mistake...
Hey ho. I imagine it will all get sorted eventually. I would have left years ago if there was the prospect of just rocking up at another dentist somewhere else, but as it is, I am just grateful to have a dentist at all 🙄
Very thankful for many things today actually - just heard this afternoon that a colleague's husband has just died, very suddenly and unexpectedly 😕 Not poorly, just tripped and fell over, and died. Obviously don't know whether an underlying condition caused him to trip - they're waiting for a coroner's report 😕 She's apparently fretting about work, so we're all trying to shuffle and cover what we can 😕 Rotten, and puts my tooth palaver into perspective 😕10 -
I broke my last crown eating soup! Madness isn't it.

That dentists really is dire isn't it - what a ludicrous situation.

Evening chums 😊
Long day today - I was up at 5.45 and at my desk by 6am (in my dressing gown) finishing prep for today's all day meeting. All done now though and Mr Cheery and I sneaked off for a late afternoon cuppa once it was over. Did another hour of work, and then we've spent an hour in the last of the evening light picking blackberries in the bottom fields 😊😊 Very peaceful 😊 although Mr C did forget the electric fence was on 🙄
Couple of things to do this evening
* check banks
* pay into regular savers before they close them again! I was convinced I'd set up standing orders as part of the set up process, but there's no evidence of that
* change card on Mr Cheery Snr's mobile bill (comes out of our joint account)
That'll do. Also need food, and to pack for work tomorrow.
Chop chop!
Oh!!! Delight of delights, I finally hit my YouGov payout and £50 has already arrived in the bank 😀😀
Question is, do I carry on for another 500 years to get the next payout??11 -
Its a No from me on the YouGov- better returns on your time surely? My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Agree with Redo, I gave up on YouGov and don't miss it. Think it took me a couple of years to get to payout a couple of times.3

You're probably right - I've just checked my account and this is my first payout since I joined in April 2015
