Cheery's path to fulfilment - finishing the DIY, looking after myself, appreciating the garden 🌻

Ha - I do have a kettle and fridge in my room, so I've managed to furnish myself with tea and found some milk that isn't UHT (urgh) so I can have a nice enough cup of tea, at least!
Looking forward to being at home tomorrow, although I'm annoyed at having missed an afternoon of the conference. Couldn't be helped though, I was so exhausted I could barely concentrate today. I'll make sure I go to the first couple of sessions tomorrow - we should only miss the final hour before having to head to the airport, I think.
Right, time to pack! Friend who is also here hasn't answered rather message I sent when I woke up an hour ago, and it's too late to bother getting dressed and going out now, so I'll just going to pack and try to go back to sleep, I think. Yawn.6 -
Aw Cheery love - sending you all gentle gentle pats, strokes, squishes and cwtches - a hot water bottle and a hand knitted blanket through the ether to make you feel best-ish, soonest. Hoping the rest of the conference is illuminating and that you are back in Blighty soonest and safe-li-est.

Oh Cheery, I hope you feel better soon. Glad your presentation went well, but how rotten to feel so rubbish so far from home. Hope you’re feeling much better tomorrow and have a safe and uneventful journey home.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thank you, lovely people xxx
I'm fine really 😊 Glad to be staying in the same hotel as a good pal though, and it feels good to know lots of other people who are here, a friendly face is helpful 😊
My friend got back and charged her phone and saw my message, so I went up to her room for a cuppa and to hear about the fancy pants cocktail reception that I slept through 🙄😂 Nice to have a change of scenery, but now I am back in my own bed, hoping to have a nice uninterrupted night! Fingers crossed...
Should be home by 8.30pm at the latest tomorrow which I am very much looking forward to!7 -
Evening chums 😊
I have had an uneventful journey, and am now 4 mins from my train station, where Mr Cheery should be waiting to collect me 😊
I am very ready for a nap and my own bed!
Got most of tomorrow to myself, so I shall be washing and napping and getting my post-trip finances in order. Feel like there are several things on a list that need doing too!6 -

Indeed - I very much enjoyed being in my own bed last night (although I confess that while I had missed Mr Cheery, I hadn't missed him prodding me to tell me I was snoring 🙄😂).
So, he's now gone out, so for two gigs, with two different bands, in two different cities. I can't say I'm sad about not joining him, although it does mean he's doing 7 hours of driving on his own. I have my own band practice later, thank goodness, and am currently having a much needed sit down and stare out of the window...
I do want to get a few things done though.
* Green flipping tiles! They've been on the list since at least January 🙄
* think about meals for the week & get at least 2 in the freezer
* check banks after trip
* unpack (the weather is grim so I may save washing for later, although it might be best to just get the dehumidifier out)
* blog post
* IPL machine later
* flylady home blessing
* 15 mins in study (working at home tomorrow afternoon)
* 15 mins in craft room - I want to make a new hot water bottle cover and there's a big pile of stuff on/around the sewing table.
Might get the flute out for a bit before band practice, we'll see.
News from work about car parking. I can currently theoretically have a free parking permit for right outside the office every day - but they are released at 8am, 7 working days in advance, and if you haven't applied by 8.10am you generally miss them. Very annoying, especially as they say '7 working days in advance' but you have to apply on Friday (a non-working day for me) for a week on Wednesday, and 8am on Saturday for a week on Thursday.
Lots of people book but don't use, so often in term time there isn't a permit, but the entire car park at my building is empty, and I have to pay to park on the street 😠 Most vexing. And yes, they do frequently hand out fines!
Anyway, they're changing things, which is good - releasing them at 1pm so you can book in work time (hope they'll sort out the weekend thing too) - but only letting you book 2 per week 🙄 Which MIGHT work in that more will be available, but I frequently don't know exactly what days I'll be there in advance 🙄
So we'll see how it goes. A moot point anyway soon as we are moving to a new site at Christmas and there will be no free spaces at all!
Anyway, another cuppa before I leap into action.6 -
Ha, so much for leaping into action! I wrote a blog post, had a conversation with my auntie on the phone, and... sat on my backside catching up on homesteading youtube videos...
Hey ho. It has been a much0needed day of resting, after all! Still, I need to go out in about 20 mins, so no time for anything else. Here's a pared-down list for when I get back.
7.30-8 FOOD
* fry halloumi (for wrap tonight and tonight)
* make a meal plan for the rest of the week
8-9 HOUSE
* 15 mins in study
* unpack
* washing on (and hang up later with dehumidifier)
9-9.45 ADMIN & PREP
* bag packed and clothes ready for tomorrow
* lunch for tomorrow
* banking
9-45-10.45 IPL
* See how far I get, even if it's only one leg.
If all else fails, as long as I sort food for today and tomorrow, and get my bag packed ready for work, that'll do!6 -
I'm supposed to be going out this evening, but at this rate I'll have fallen asleep on the sofa well before I'm due to leave!2
