Cheery's path to fulfilment - finishing the DIY, looking after myself, appreciating the garden 🌻

Ha, yes, it did indeed! 😁
Gosh we are exhausted 😱 We have both been guite grumpy today, in different ways and about different things, but sufficiently wrapped up in our own concerns that we can't really console each other 🙄 One of those days you just have to get to the end of, I think.
Went to another town to visit a friend who is exhibiting at an arts festival. Utterly lovely to see her- she was busy and surrounded by a constant stream of people, which was delightful for her! We grumped about the town failing to find the right coffee, or adequate chairs etc. Mr Cheery did get recognised in the street though by someone who had been at his gig last night (in a completely different town) 😂 so that was nice, and someone else admired his hat (which I made 😂). So some glimmers of cheerfulness!
We are home now. He has gone for a nap, I'm going to get the IPL machine out - I only did one leg the other day and really should catch up the other one 😂 Also only got part way through the film I was watching so I'll finish that off too!
Preparations for my work trip are minimal so far, although I did buy a new rucksack, and today transferred money from the savings account. Very annoying, but the trip is just before payday, I've been drip feeding into regular savings accounts for the last year just from the current account with no back up from savings so it's quite depleted - £2600 is due in from one regular saver but not til a few days after I'm back 🙄 Between that and the plumber and the mortgage fee, we're down to around £500 in the current account until a week on Wednesday, which would normally be fine, but I dont want to be overseas and find myself without enough to cover a necessary expense should one pop up.
Anyway, that should be with us by Tuesday, cutting it fine but at least it's on its way - and I can if necessary make withdrawals without penalty from the regular saver (except loss of interest, which given there's only a couple of weeks left anyway shouldn't be too much).
Right. Cuppa, food, tea, IPL, maybe a bath, and then am early night I think 🙄7 -
No bath, but I'm feeling marginally more human after an evening on the sofa.
Had a YouGov survey, all excited because I only needed 35 points to payout! Except the darn thing was only 25 points 😠😂😂 so I'm still 10p short 😂😂9 -
Evening MSE chums 😊
Well, I slept well last night, and have felt like a functional professional today, and even stopped worrying so much about the thing that bothered me all last week.
Feeling marginally less like a functional professional tonight as I tried to check in to Wednesday's flight and realised the ticket has a shortened version of the name on my passport 😬 Cant quite figure out how this happened - the work travel system has me down as both, so a quiek I suspect. I'm sure I filled in my full name at some point - but I did have to cancel and rebook quickly because apparently my actual boss can't authorise flights (despite being listed as an authoriser) so perhaps I did it wrong the second time...
Hey ho. I have emailed the travel company and hopefully we can sort it tomorrow without too much bother.
I have also realised that 'one cabin bag' for this airline isn't the 'one cabin bag plus a handbag' that it was for the previous airline I flew with 🙄 Just shows how little I do any international travel 😂 Fortunately my new rucksack is within a couple if centimetres of the allowance so I will just be travelling very light! 🙄
Anyway, faffing with that, plus nipping to a shop on the way home, and popping to collect train tickets so I don't have to do it at the station on Wednesday, have meant it's gone dark before I had a chance to get out in the garden 🙄
But I will not be deterred. Back with a list shortly!5 -
OK, I have what's left of the evening to myself, so here's a plan
8.15-9.15 HOUSE
* weekly home blessing
9.15-10 PACK
* check my list has everything on
* check weather (again)
* make decisions about outfits
* attempt to pack bag and see what I need to ditch
10-10.15 PREP
* food for tomorrow
* clothes for tomorrow
10.15-10.45 FLUTE
* poor thing has only been out of the box once this summer and we have our first autumnal rehearsal on Sunday
10.45-11 BLOG
* try (again) to upload photos from phone - I bought a new cable but it ended up in the car and now I can't find it anywhere (I did find a different old one though)
* blog post (if poss)
And that'll do - if indeed all of that gets done!!10 -

Thanks RT!
Travel company wanted £99 to 'change the name' for my flight🙄 I rang the airline instead and told them the last couple of letters had been missed off my first name and they added them back on, for free 🙄
Another leaving do for a colleague who will be missed today 😕 and Mr Cheery had had a rotten day, just when I'm going away for a few days 😕
Hey ho. I THINK I'm sorted, just need to get everything I've stashed into a bag and have some tea. Ready, steady, GO!6 -
Sorry that Mr Cheery has had a rotton day.

Thanks Beanie xxx
All packed 😊 And my new rucksack is only a centimetre or two outside the baggage height allowance (and it *will* squash into the right dimensions, it just stands taller because the fabric is quite thick).
Yawn.
I already have train tickets. Have found the FD card that allows free bank card use abroad (and transferred money into it, and checked the PIN). Checked into the flight already, and know my seat number - got randomly allocated a window seat in both directions which is nice 😊😊
Can't find the travel adaptor anywhere, so I'll have to pick one up in London - annoying but I'm not braving the loft at this point!8 -
I've been on my scything course - did 3 hours (I thought it would be too long/boring, but it went very quickly!). Learned with the instructor's standard scythes, then he set up mine (which is different) and tried with that - which felt harder. He also peened it and sharpened it for me as use by other people had clearly not done it any favours... Came home and decided to get it out and have made inroads into the front garden where the grass has been trampled flat before there was a downpour. I'm now reasonably hopeful that I can get to grips with it and stick to my plan of lots of wildflower meadow and no petrol mowers! Thanks for the encouragement!8

Excellent! Makes a real difference being shown, I think. Good luck, do report back!4
