Thank you all 😊 Today has indeed been easier, although it's going to be a long one. I volunteered to drive Mr Cheery to his gig tonight, not realising he'd need to be here at 4pm, but it doesn't start til about half 8, and it'll likely be almost midnight before we leave, and it's 2 hours drive home again 🙄 Hey ho, I am in the corner of the pub with a cuppa and a view of a canal so it's not all bad. Might go for a walk down it in a bit 😊
Tomorrow I have to drive to a different city in the morning, so that'll be a couple of hours of driving in time for a meeting at 9.30. So I am going to be in high need of a rest by the weekend!
Hey ho. I have brought a book, and have a reasonably quiet corner here, so not too bad 😊 Some people Mr Cheery knows are coming later (I've only met them once but they go way back so it'll be nice to hang out with them a bit more 😊)2 -

So. Big car headlights both went 🙄 One went last week, but some waggling from the man at Halfords brought it back. I did the same and it worked, so there must be a loose connection. The other side didn't respond to waggling though, so Mr C swapped everything into the other car and we took that this evening.
Makes tomorrow a bit of a palaver though as we both need to go out! Mr C is going to take the car we went in tonight (because all the stuff is still in it! The engine light flashed orange on the way home but hoping that was just a moment of madness 🙄).
I'll take the other one, and will have to pop into Halfords again to see if changing bulbs on the other side works 🙄 Very tiresome. I'm going to be working Friday again at this rate 🙄 Not making up this afternoon though - I'm already owed several Fridays from before I went off 🙄
Anyway, tonight was fun. Several people there I've not seen for a LONG time,so lovely to catch up 😊 Only just got in though, and I need to leave again at 7.30 so as soon as the kettle's boiled foe the hot water bottle I'll be asleep, possibly before I've got as far as the bed 😂😂14 -
Well, I made it through yesterday, just about 😂 Car headlights took forever, neither me nor the Halfords guy could remove the darn things easily, and for a while we were one either side of the bonnet, tugging and swearing, until they both popped off pretty much at the same time 😂 All done now though, and a sidelight too (although he didn't charge me for fitting that) - £31 all in and I have a spare sidelight bulb.
Went to the leaving do, but didn't stay long as I only knew the person who was leaving, and everyone else knew each other. Had a nice time chatting to some other people, but after a while it was time to leave.
Popped into an Al Anon meeting for the first time in about 5 years. If you're new round here, you may not know my previous partner had a heavy dependence on alcohol, and eventually died of heart failure at 31 (after we'd split up). I started going to Al Anon meetings (like AA but for friends & family of people with drink problems) when we were together, and carried on for many, many years afterwards, having found such a lovely bunch of people and a lovely bit of rest and sanity whatever was going on in the week.
I only stopped because we moved house, and there isn't a local one here. Anyway, it was lovely to see some people I recognised and some new faces. And, it turns out, the meeting I went to is a hybrid one, so I could have been attending online all this time 😂 Something to consider, as I've been finding myself missing it lately.
Anyway, today. The sun is shining, and I have the washing machine on. Did a spin class this morning, bikes outside the gym in the park again. I took the padded seat cover from my bike - a game changer! 😂 Annoyingly I shoved my earrings in my leggings pocket with the car keys, thinking 'I must be careful when I take those out...' and, predictably, I forgot 🙄
Mr Cheery met me for a cuppa (our favourite cafe has instituted a new 'wait to be seated policy and new till, and Mr Cheery hates it so much I suspect we may have to find a new joint favourite cafe...).
I went back to town to retrace my steps , found one earring in the car, and the other on the road where the car had been parked - success! Also bought a rucksack to replace my work one - I've sewn it up several times but now the strap has irretrievably broken. It will do as a 'suitcase' for next week's trip too.
Another gig tonight - we're leaving at 3, and it's so lovely today I'd far rather stay here! But never mind, sat on the swing with a cuppa enjoying it while I can, and I'll get the washing out too before we go.
Last gig tomorrow (I'm going to that as well) - it's been a very long week!6 -

Ah Al Anon. I miss my meetings too, although it is where I met the ex oddly enough. The meetings were very reassuring. I went for a few years after a boyfriend died of liver failure and my doctor suggested it. At the time I thought the anti depressants were conditional on me going to al anon, it was only much later I realised that was not the case but she got me there and I went for a few years. Very helpful.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -
Thank you all, and Watty, I'm glad you got there too and it was helpful. It doesn't suit everyone, but it's certainly given me a lot of positives, good relationships, and coping strategies. I'm going to try and get there more regularly i think.
Day four of Mr Cheery's big tour, and the closest gig to home (although still an hour away). I've helped unload and decamped to a cafe - I could have found a friend to have a cuppa with but by the time i'd done roadie duties and fetched a sandwich I was boiling hot, and I'd paid to park the car in town so I've just left it there and am trying to cool down a little in a cafe.
Picked up a travel sized sun cream for my trip so at least that's something off my list. But I forgot cotton wool again! Hey ho, I'm not moving now till this cafe shuts 😂7 -
I do hope that cake and coffee feature in your cafe camp-out!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!!
