Ooh, and I just requested a 51p TCB payout - raking in the big bucks tonight! ๐๐6

Right, paid the plumber, which has taken the current account lower than I like it to be (although in my early MSE days I would have been utterly DELIGHTED for it to be sitting where it is
). It would have been fine, but there's been ยฃ560 to the plumber, plus the ยฃ799 mortgage fee gone out in the last few days, alongside all our holiday spending over the summer, and I haven't pulled any in from savings.ย
However, one of the regular savers matures on 23rd Sept, so that will be a big wodge heading back into the current account (I think it's the one with ยฃ2400 in) which will be a good cushion. I'm paid before then too.ย
Just need to check when the new regular savers go out - I put the 1st of the month, but they've not gone today so we might have missed this month. If they both go out now though, before the other one pays in, I'll have to do some transferring.ย
A job for tomorrow, I think.ย10 -
Evening chums
Today has felt like a long day. I didn't get my act together this morning, and ended up not getting to the office until 9.30am. The colleague I'd gone to spend time with has covid, so wasn't in anyway, so I had the office to myself, except for a gang of fruit fliesI did find someone else to have lunch with though, and had a quick chat with a friend while walking between buildings
Had a difficult meeting this afternoon - shouldn't have been, and after some pondering and discussion with a couple of people, I suspect the problem is me trying to please everyone, and as a result coming across as being indecisive and not knowing what I'm talking about. A lesson for me there (one which I should have learned before, but clearly haven't). It's been painful this afternoon, and with nobody in the office and nobody here when I got home, a bit hard to get over.ย
Hey ho.ย
Took ages to get home. Stopped (separately) for diesel and milk, and ended up with chocolate the first time and ice cream the secondSpotted an advert for an event I've been meaning to investigate locally - but it was tonight, and I would have had to leave 5 mins after getting home, so after being uselessly indecisive for a bit, I sent an email about next month, and stayed home instead.ย
Eventually I decided if I had enough energy for moaning and fretting, I had enough energy to mow the grassSo I did that, talked to my sister, made some tea and washed up, found a spare phone screen protector as a temporary measure for Mr Cheery, and in the process found a bag of stuff to throw away, a pile of recycling, and three books for the charity shop. So not a completely wasted evening, although I didn't get done everything I wanted.ย
Regular savers - no sign of standing orders being set up (at all, never mind just 'not yet'). Will investigate further later - for now it's enough that they won't go out before the old one is released. Checked the old one - it'll pay out ยฃ2600 (plus interest) on 23rd, although not sure if it'll actually pay it out, or just mature into a 'normal' savings account - will find out soon enough.ย
And now I'm going to sort out some photos to give me some sense of having done something useful this evening!

YAWN - neither of the phone wires I can find will connect the phone to the laptop tonight, so no uploading photos. Sigh
So I think I just need to draw a line under today and hope tomorrow is better!ย

Sorry today was difficult- hopefully tomorrow will be much easierยDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just donโt buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rateย isย attributed to the fact that weย donโt buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.ย ย ย Money doesnโt walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Iโm sorry you had a tough afternoon. The most significant part of fixing a performance gap is seeing it and owning it - youโve done that now so you wonโt find it so hard next time to respond more decisively. If you replay it in your head *BUT* change the โscriptโ so there is an assertive and facilitating response from you, how does it change the โfeelโ of the conversation in your head? Do that a few times, so your synapses have a new pathway to use next time a similar conversation comes up.ยWell done on the productive evening! ๐

Thank you all ๐ Today has indeed been easier, although it's going to be a long one. I volunteered to drive Mr Cheery to his gig tonight, not realising he'd need to be here at 4pm, but it doesn't start til about half 8, and it'll likely be almost midnight before we leave, and it's 2 hours drive home again ๐ Hey ho, I am in the corner of the pub with a cuppa and a view of a canal so it's not all bad. Might go for a walk down it in a bit ๐
Tomorrow I have to drive to a different city in the morning, so that'll be a couple of hours of driving in time for a meeting at 9.30. So I am going to be in high need of a rest by the weekend!ย
Hey ho. I have brought a book, and have a reasonably quiet corner here, so not too bad ๐ Some people Mr Cheery knows are coming later (I've only met them once but they go way back so it'll be nice to hang out with them a bit more ๐)5
