Cheery's path to fulfilment - finishing the DIY, looking after myself, appreciating the garden 🌻

Made it back eventually. Had a slight fiasco when I couldn't find my swipe card 😱 Had to go round the other side of the building to bang on a window - in the meantime someone else came out of the front door, found my swipe card on the floor (must have fallen out when I was rummaging), but hadn't seen me, so took it to another building to hand into reception 😂 Emailed me straight away but I wasn't looking at emails, I was too busy turning the office upside down and ringing the dentist to check if they'd found it 😂
All sorted eventually but it took a bit of time out of the day 😂
Mr C had a nice time with his dad, and popped in to see his excellent neighbour, whose husband died this week 😕 He kept chickens, and she now wants to rehome them as she can't manage on her own. Mr Cheery fortunately did NOT volunteer us, but I've said I'll see if I can find someone like I did when we rehomed our young ones.
So, a four day weekend for me! 😃😃😃 we're in a bit of disarray after the band tour, about 87 trips to the dentist between us, an international trip for me and a week back at work. So a weekend of consolidation and light cleaning, I think 😂
Swimming in the morning, and then at some point over the weekend
* mow grass
* rake up field
* banking
* post nephew's card
* batch cooking
* lay those flippin tiles!! Dont let me go back to work without doing it! There are literally about 10 of them, it'll probably only take 5 minutes 😂😂
That'll do, I want to leave space for unplanned jollity, lazing around, and cafe trips 😂11 -
Afternoon chums 😊
Been swimming 😊 Picked up a few necessary items and posted a parcel of goodies to my eldest nephew who moved out to university on Monday. Not far from home, but still learning to live independently 😊 Auntie Cheery is sending him frivolous and unnecessary things 😁
Today is the only day of my weekend with no rain forecast 🙄 Washing has just finished, I'm halfway through mowing the grass, and I've started raking the grass out of the hay field. Cursing myself for having left this so long - the new grass has grown through and now it's well beyond a rake, and is instead an arm-mangling pitchfork job 🙄 Hey ho. One row down, 12 to go 🙄 Mowing the grass as a bit of light relief!
Had a text from a friend asking if they can bring their van over and stay tonight - of course, hooray!! I didn't have much in the way of plans beyond pottering this weekend anyway, and I'm always happy to ditch functional plans to hang out with pals 😁 Mr Cheery is in charge of food and light tidying - I need to plough on with my grass-based missions outside while the weather holds...9 -

Thanks beanie xx
Well,we have had an utterly lovely time with our pals 🥰🥰 Hung out in the garden and then inside yesterday, then they had a good sleep in their van. I was up before everyone else (as usual) and did an hour and a half of raking in the field.
The rest of the day was spent with more raking, sitting about, following the sunshine round the garden, willow weaving, and flower printing (well, bashing really - putting petals onto fabric, covering with tissue/greaseproof paper, and bashing with a hammer). Most cheerful. Friend has been doing a lot of arty stuff lately and is starting to make a living out of it so it was nice to do some stuff with her 😊
Weather was also a nice surprise as I hadn't looked since rain was forecast earlier in the week. We stayed out til about 6pm, although it started to go quite dark and thundery with some lightening (but no rain) an hour before. Then the heavens opened, and the evening has been quite a stormy one!
Friends left about 6.45, and Mr Cheery has had a gig and didn't get back til midnight - another friend was doing a different gig not too far from here so she arrived about 5 mins later and is also staying 😂 I've left them to have a post-gig beer and have come to bed 😂
Managed to bake some flapjack and get some food (not even sure how to describe it, ended up substituting so many of the ingredients along the way and put far too much chilli powder in it 🙄) - anyway, it's been in the hay box and is now in the freezer so that, and not having left the homestead at all, are today's MSE lifestyle contributions 😂8 -
Glad you had a nice time with your friend 😊❤️

Well, here's a before picture for you 😂
It's a weird space, used to be under the sink before we moved the sink. It's not quite straight woth the rest of the floor, but I'm not going to bother cutting every tile, I'm just going to accept that it'll be slightly wonky.
Mr Cheery and visitor have left, so I'm just eating dinner and then I will get straight on it!
