Had a banging headache all day 🙄 I've drunk loads of water, taken painkillers, but it's still not shifting. Going to have a bit of a tidy up then a nice bath, I think, see if the steam gets to it 🙄 Glad I've got tomorrow off work!
Perhaps you need wine???!!
None of that seems to have gotten rid of my headache, funnily enough 😂😂
Definitely running the bath now!4 -
Well done on getting the tiles down 😊👏
Hope the headache eases. Could it be a touch of sinusitis? That’s how it always starts for me.

Thank you all 😊 Mr c was impressed when he came in from his gig this evening 😊
KK you may be right about sinusitis, my ears have felt like they need to pop all evening 🙄 hope not though - this hospital appointment on Friday is because the root of my tooth is poking into my sinus, so I suspect they won't need with it if it's that. We'll see.
Tech fiasco this evening - Mr Cheery's laptop, while working perfectly well, had stopped recognising the charger 🙄 charger works fine with my laptop, and worked fine with his til about 8pm - we were watching a programme and just happened to notice it wasn't charging any more. Did a bit of messing but wanted to preserve some of the battery to do a backup to the external hard drive - we did try but have clearly put too much on there lately and it's too full.
So, town tomorrow for a second external hard drive (no bad thing having two), plus a usb-c charger in case it's just the main charging port that's bust. I am also on a paperwork mission so I'm going to get a shredder. So it might be a bit of a spendy one!
Must also dig out my co op card - apparently I have £16.93 worth of points that will expire in October and we don't want that! They must all be from our old house - we lived round the corner from a co op there, whereas here or nearest one is 11 miles away in a town we don't go to all that often 😂7 -
I've had the same email about my co-op card, it wouldn't have done this if it counted all purchases like it used to do. I'm still using my points from paying for my funeral! That was over 7 years ago so no wonder they want to expire then really.

Do check Mr Cheery’s laptop can charge from the usb-c port first - they don’t all do this.
Shredders are dire in my opinion… will you have that much ongoing to shred or would it be worth getting a couple of sacks from a secure disposal service for the large amount? (We got rid of our shredder when we were going to be moving and now Mr MV just sneaks the very small amount we have these days into work).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thanks, will do. It's certainly got a usb-c port, but I know that doesn't necessarily mean it'll charge. My work one does though, and it would have been handy to have a small charger instead of lugging the normal one to Spain 😂
I'm sure you're right about the shredder. One that I was looking at yesterday says it works for 3 mins then has to rest for 40 - sounds like me 😂 I never thought about a secure service. I've got a stash I want to clear now, plus odd bits in the future, but you're right, do I really want to store a shredder? In the past I've got rid of a load of paper by just laying it in piles on the veg beds and emptied the compost bin onto it 😂 Might just do that - as long as it doesn't dry out before it composts it's fine. I lost giant piles of old damp printer paper (with holes down the sides) doing that a few years ago. Just need it not to blow away (and nobody to dig it up, I guess) before it rots. Now is an ideal time of year as I have a pile of compost to empty and a load of soggy hay to cover it up with!
You just saved me £20 there, thanks 😂 have a cake on me! 😁
Nw regular saver matured today. £200 a month for a year but I'd obviously managed to get an extra payment in at the start so it was £2600 + £115.99 interest. Interest has dropped to 2.4% now (I think it was 5.5%) so I've pinged the whole balance to the main NW account and back to the main current account - once it's all gone through I'll close it. A nice total to add to the monthly savings pot! 😊
Two more maturing in Jan 2 years of £50 at 8%, plus a year of £300 at 7%), and we've just started our co op ones, both a year at 7% (variable though so that might drop).
Will have to look at balances today. I transferred some out of the main savings account in prep for my trip (which I didn't spend) but also because I'd run the current account down paying for stuff like the mortgage fee. So some will go back to the savings account, but the windows will be done in the next couple of weeks (£1500 ish) so I'll keep that back. But maybe it's worth getting a couple of weeks of interest! 😂
Right. Mr Cheery and I are going to have our first cafe trip of the weekend this morning, and I want to squeeze a run in first. Building up from very little (again) so lots of walk breaks!7 -
Oh, and I've been paid, and this is when we go up a pay scale increment for the year. An additional £76.01 a month for me.
Negotiations still ongoing with the union nationally so there may be some shift in that, but I imagine not much.
Covers just over half of the mortgage payment increase £143) so that's a start, at least!7 -
Yep, just checked pay slip, and that's just up an increment on last year's pay scale. The whole scale will shift at some point, there are just discussions about how much (I think 2.5% at least) so hopefully there'll be a bit of a backdated amount too. Not holding my breath til it's here though.
Right, best get out for a run before I run out of time!8
