Evening all,
Well today has been sh*t. Had an awful shock with some dreadful news at work, very unexpected, and spent the rest of the day processing and talking things through with other people who were struggling 😕 ended up going for a cuppa with a colleague after work which was very much needed and only just got home. Not going to say any more about that here for obvious reasons but it's been a rotten day 😕
In other more MSE-related news, got home to a letter from the mortgage company informing me that we'd be going onto their standard variable rate of 8.24% as of November 🙄 not entirely sure what they've done with the £799 I paid them several weeks ago to secure a fixed rate of half that 🙄 I assume their systems are not talking to each other but of course I'm now going to have to ring and confirm just in case something has gone amiss 😠
Work have confirmed today that we will be getting a pay rise - but they will be delaying implementation for 11 months and won't be backdating. They're legally allowed to do this, but it's still rubbish. Theoretically people shift up an increment on the pay scale each year - I did (hence an extra £76 a month) but for those who are at the top of their pay band, zilch 🙄 mortgage is increasing £67 a month more than my pay rise, and I am grateful that we can absorb this without too much worry.
Anyway. In more cheerful news, I raided my colleague's apple tree this evening so have a big bag of cooking apples to process at the weekend.
Sorry, a gloomy post on a gloomy day 😕9 -
Sorry to hear you've had a rubbish day Cheery.2

Thanks lovely people xxx
Another cheerful thing - the new USB-C charger works with Mr Cheery's laptop. Very pleased about this. I've suggested sending back for repair anyway since it's under warranty, but I'm going to leave it up to him to decide whether to do anything about it.
Nowt else to report. Grateful to my past self for having done a bit of advanced meal prep - means I had a hot meal for lunch today (along with a pile of rubbish during the course of the afternoon), and an easily assembled tea when I got home. Also have both dinner and tea for tomorrow prepared too.
Had to pay for parking twice today, and it's gone up since I last did it, so £8 for the day. Definitely worth making an effort to avoid that in the future. Annoyingly after I'd parked (but before I'd paid) this morning I spotted a completely free space - ran back to the car but before I made it someone else came round the corner and parked in it 🙄. Need to get my act together to park further away and walk in. Mr C is coming with me tomorrow so won't need to pay at least.
He's at the dentist tomorrow - hoping he'll be able to pick up my teeth 🙄😬 But they may not be ready, which means another trip to the wrong side of town before I go to the hospital on Friday. Yawn.
Anyway, I'm just moaning and grumbling tonight, think I just need to go to bed!5 -

Thank you Greent x
Urgh, woke with period pain so to head it off I'm going to have a sneaky bath before heading off to work. Thought I want meant to be getting past this! 🙄😂 Hey ho, at least I have hot water.
I've also been bitten by some insect between two of my toes 😬 I get bitten quite often being out and about in the fields, but this is REALLY annoying, presumably because it spent all of yesterday trapped inside a sock inside a boot, rubbing against itself. I've had bite cream on, but it's SO itchy I might have to resort to antihistamine tablets!
Still, minor irritations that will pass with time. I will try to at least enjoy the novelty of an early morning bath before work, not something I usually indulge in!8 -
