Having a day or two (or three) for your brain to catch up with itself is also productive, doing all the things with no time to process them will always result in a grumpy tired day because brain says 'can you please just stop for one minute while I sort out all this information, have you seen the state of my inbox, honestly, you can't get the staff these days'
Relaxed day today though. Lots of sitting around, I've managed to do 2 loads of washing (only one dry before it started raining though, the other hung up with the dehumidifier). Mowed AND strimmed the grass so garden is looking presentable. Made a nice healthy tea, and had a momentary admin frenzy when I paid the car tax, paid my band subs, and signed up for a little local event this week.
Feeling quite productive now 😂 Might have a celebratory hot chocolate and go and measure my curtains 😂6 -
Sounds like you have turned your day around 😊
Same here but shattered now! 😂

I'm feeling more energised but I'm sure I'll crash soon 🙄😂
Hot chocolate had, and I helped Mr C put a load of stuff from the music room in the loft. Also very nearly made another set of curtains! 😃 they'll definitely be done before bed, and as Mr C is going in the bath, I might even get the other set at least cut out before he emerges 😊
All this activity and returning energy is good really, as Mr C has informed me that it is, in fact, SUNDAY, not Saturday, and therefore our guests are arriving tomorrow, not the day after tomorrow, as I've spent the whole day thinking 😬😂😂5 -
Take it easy Cheery - the guests are coming to see YOU, not the house! - Enjoy your time with them tomorrow!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! You're right of course @rtandon27 We do tend to treat visitors as an excuse to do projects and sort out various things in the house. No bad thing - or at least it wouldn't be if we didn't try to do everything on the morning they were arriving 😂😂
Anyway, we have agreed NOT to comment on what the other one is doing in preparation 😂😂 Lots of our pre-guest fights are because I am cleaning the toilet and hoovering while Mr C is installing glitterballs or some such 🙄 Which is important - but why am I always the one cleaning the toilet?!
Anyway, that fight is not for today, so I am going to just assume I'll be cleaning the bathroom and do that FIRST, along with preparing the guest bedroom, and then I'll be heading upstairs to make curtains, and then outside to put the gazebo up 😁 No idea what Mr C's doing and I'm now not allowed to ask (but he's also not allowed to question my curtain-making either) 😂
Amazing we've lasted almost 20 years really, isn't it??12 -
That made me laugh, Mr Redo always started some random new home improvement project in the middle of me cleaning for visitors, preferably in a room that I had already cleaned. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

This all sounds so familiar 😂 I’m usually cooking and Mr MV will hoover… then I ask if he’s done the bathroom (and we’re talking cloakroom, so only a basin and loo). He says it’s fine - he’sput some stuff down the loo. I go in, the place is covered in fur and bits of litter the cats have flicked everywhere (litter trays are in the cloakroom) and I have to do the actual cleaning… meanwhile Mr MV, deciding we’re ready for visitors has returned to calculating stuff for potential heat pump installation… and telling me about it when I’m clearly trying to think about other things!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

😂😂😂 I'm very glad it's not just us! 😂😂 today we are trying to embrace it rather than end up in a foul temper just as the guests turn up 😬
Bathroom cleaned and hoovered, guest room (my study) cleaned and hoovered, and the bed set up and dehumidifier on. Sneaked into the study with the door closed to eat my lunch 😂
Looks like Mr C has cleared most of his stuff off the dining table now so I'll hmgive that a wipe, then off to sort out curtains i think. Gazebo is easy enough to put up when the guests arrive if necessary.
We've bought the gazebo. Mixed feelings from me - I enjoyed renting one from the library of things for £4! But the library of things wasn't open for us to go and get one this time, and we will get good use out of it (two sets of visitors just this week), and have plenty of space for storage. So it's a shame, but there we are.
Been an unexpectedly spendy couple of days. Gazebo was £50 (reduced from £70), we bought a bracket to fit the TV to the wall (having done a similar one for Mr C Snr the other day, although his was cheaper) for £60, and I've admitted defeat with seedlings and bought a load of plug veg plants for the garden.
Right, best get back to it!9 -
Oh Cheery that did make me laugh - OH & I went off on a weekend away earlier this month to celebrate our 19th year together. We were actually celebrating not doing each other in as we drive each other mad on a daily basis! We couldn't even agree on what special meal to have out, so we had two - one a very fancy pub dinner & one an authentic Japanese meal. Then because we'd spent most of our food budget, we had kebab van gyros for the last meal 🤣🤣🤣4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! 😂😂 oh dear RT! 😂😂
Friends were quite late so we were actually pretty relaxed by the time they arrived - gazebo was up, I'd done some crochet and even baked a batch of fairy cakes 😂
Gazebo was very useful - we managed to position it over the swing seat, so had a nice view, comfy enough chairs, and had a pleasant few hours outside despite the downpours 🙄
We did end up having to put tarps up round two sides though 😂😂 so it's not exactly pretty, but we did also string up some fairy lights 😂
Inside with the heating on now though 🥶12
