How do people get cheap holidays abroad? Any tips?
What sort of holiday are you looking for?

We tend to look at Ryanscare/Sleasyjet/etc for cheap flights. Then, if anywhere takes our fancy, we get an Airbnb at the destination.

As an example, we're off to Palermo next month for a week. Flights & accomodation for 2 - £480.
    Anywhere in spain

Is that a hotel you got?
    No, flights & Airbnb.

What d'ya mean - anywhere in Spain?
Oh think you asked where I wanted to go on hol lol
No, I asked "what sort of holiday are you looking for?"

Self catering? Hotel? B&B or all inclusive? Glamping? Package or DIY? etc etc...

Perhaps Ryanair don't except Monzo ?
I would have thought the card would have been declined at the point of payment, rather than it going through with insufficient funds ?
It went through in the air but when I got home it wasn't on my app then a day later it said declined and ever since they keep trying to take it out 🤷‍♀️ I assumed I didn't have enough money in but since I got home Ive left the money in

I seem to recall reading recently that payments don't actually go through whilst your in the air, and that's why your limited to £200 spend. And some people would purposely spend a  significant amount knowing by the time it was declined they'd be well away from the airport.
But I could have dreamt that??

    Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

    Make £2024 in 2024...

Finally Monzo have paid Ryanair! I'm even more confused how this offline air payments system works 🤷‍♀️ I left the money in for weeks Monzo kept declining it every time Ryanair tried to take it and now today Monzo decide to pay it 😕

I would ditch Monzo for Chase - it's a great card to have for use outwith the UK, especially for customer service.
Now has 2 million + account holders, that speaks for itself in terms of a new(ish) app only bank.

I used Monzo on Ryanair a few weeks ago and it went through the next day without any problems.
