We flew into/out off Malaga this month - long queues at incoming passport checks as expected - and a nightmare on the return due to huge long unsupervised queues for departing passport controls.
We only just made the last call for our flight, having been in the line for an hour.
Hope they are better organised in the Canaries.
Queues have got ridiculous in some EU countries since Brexit, with border officers wanting to see proof of return flights etc.

Irrelevant in our case, we had proof of return flights - boarding passes issued just 15 minutes before trying to negotiate the shambolic queue heading for exit passport controls.
No issues requiring return documentation for border passport inspection staff on entering at Malaga 10 days earlier.

We flew into Tenerife this week, border controls couldn't be faulted, really quick and suitcases collected straight after.

Maybe they could send management at Malaga airport over to Tenerife to see how to improve their entry and exit procedures. ?
Long queues on arrival and even longer delays on departure - we were over an hour waiting for passport control on the return.

I've been through Malaga immigration twice in the last few months. First time it took around an hour but the second time only a few minutes. All depends on how lucky (or unlucky) you are with the landing slot which determines how many people are in the non-EU queue.

My experience of Tenerife is that it has been OK on arrival but there can be long queues on departure as there is a passport check to get to the non-Schengen gates and a lot of people don't leave enough time.

I suppose, as a country, we only have ourselves to blame for this as they need to do extra checks now that we aren't part of the EU.

    I'M HOME 😬

The holiday was so good Lanzarote is stunning we had a lovely hotel!

I'm so glad I checked my suitcase in cos my cousin took cabin luggage and a very strict security guy took her to the side and stripped searched her it was horrendous she said in all her years of flying this has never happened to her.

Doing check in was a breeze but I have to say airports and planes are chaotic now compared to 20 years ago felt extremely stressful, rushed and packed in like sardines! Long queues everywhere! It's not fun flying also the plane felt cheap and not very safe and the food trolly was chaos too! I used a mix of euros and my monzo card which worked out well!

I have to say Spain has upped their game since I last went lots more english shops and english food about the hotel staff were very attentive and much nicer than 20 years ago

All in all I had a really good holiday

If that's not exaggeration, it's a serious allegation.

Not sure that's really something to aspire to 🙄

Anyway, glad the trip was a success!
