The holiday was so good Lanzarote is stunning we had a lovely hotel!I'm so glad I checked my suitcase in cos my cousin took cabin luggage and a very strict security guy took her to the side and stripped searched her it was horrendous she said in all her years of flying this has never happened to her.Doing check in was a breeze but I have to say airports and planes are chaotic now compared to 20 years ago felt extremely stressful, rushed and packed in like sardines! Long queues everywhere! It's not fun flying also the plane felt cheap and not very safe and the food trolly was chaos too! I used a mix of euros and my monzo card which worked out well!I have to say Spain has upped their game since I last went lots more english shops and english food about the hotel staff were very attentive and much nicer than 20 years ago
All in all I had a really good holiday
We stopped visiting Goa for 2 x 3 weeks every year when Sunday dinners and fish, chips & mushy peas started appearing on menus.
When we're on holiday, we want to taste the local food.
We'd be searching out tapas places filled with locals.
Curious why you thought the plane wasn't very safe.
Glad you enjoyed your holiday.

Thanks for coming back to tell us about your holiday @SUPERGIRL2020. So pleased you enjoyed yourself.👍🏼
Like others, I'm curious why you'd want to go abroad and eat English food and not exactly sure what you mean by English shops. There's obviously a market for it or they wouldn't exist but I don't see the attraction. Even in this country I favour 'foreign' restaurants like an Indian, Chinese or Italian. I can cook English (or Welsh in my case) food myself at home! 🤣0 -

The plane was making weird noises plus we were crammed in like sardines everything felt cheap compared to when I last flew, staff were stressed and doing 100 jobs people up and down the aisle like yo-yos ridiculously long queues for the loo too
I see why Ryanair are a budget airline only wish I was rich so I could fly with a more luxurious airline first class lol0 -

I love trying foreign food I had paella, tapas and the local fish but I have to admit when I saw someone getting burger and chips I just had to try it 😂0 -
It has really got me wanting to go back to Spain for another holiday but I'm very poor 😞
How do people get cheap holidays abroad? Any tips?0 -
I'm all for variety in eating when I'm on holiday. I don't just eat English/British food at home so why would I just eat the local food when away? Of course it's always interesting to try the local stuff but I wouldn't want it for 3 meals a day. It's nice to have the choice of Indian one day, Chinese the next and maybe Italian the day after.1

Removing coats, jackets, hoodies etc - and sometimes footwear & belts - is pretty standard stuff these days.0 -

I'm just glad I did check in I only had a little carry on bag0 -

I'll be going to Turkey for 3 weeks soon and although I absolutely love Turkish food, there will be a day when I fancy a steak. 😋
I know what you mean about the shops. It seems strange and amusing. I flew to Belfast last year so it felt like I was abroad although it's in the UK. I went into a little Tesco and it seemed really odd when they asked if I had a Clubcard. 🤣1
