Oh, well ... just got a reply from 1pMobile, looks like they made a mistake...
    Good afternoon,
I am sorry for the confusion.
The funds should have been taken from the credit balance on the account rather than your payment method. We have refunded the £3 from your credit balance so it will be as though the Boost was taken from that instead.
    Regards

  • the rule about disconnection for having a 0 balance is very unfair, i have given them £20 this month for a boost, when that expires they will want me to top up another £10, i wont do it, i dont think they will dare enforce that rule, they would be disconnecting most of their customers if they did

I applied a data boost, and later looked at my dashboard to check on when my 90 day period ended.
Though I had seen a period displayed before on the dashboard, it doesn't show now.
I looked around on other pages, but could not find any mention of the 90 day period.
Does this mean that the 90 day period starts afresh when the boost ends?
Otherwise, do you have to keep track of the 90 day period that was set before you took the boost?

The terms say the 90 day period starts the day after the boost ends. See 3 b ii

So it would seem that someone could keep the service active by buying the cheapest boost ie the 1GB data boost for £3 at the end of the 90 day period, then when the boost ends a month later, a new 90 period would start, and buy another towards the end of that period, and you'd keep the service active for £3 every 4 months!!

Though in 3 a i it says min spend on calls, data, texts and boosts is £10 every 90 days but this is under the "pure PAYG" bit. It's not very clear. I may have missed something...

When a company behaves like this it is time to vote with your feet.

Yes, its not very clear. So I was hoping that someone who had gone through the whole cycle could explain what happened.

Have they now also stopped being able to just top up the account from your account balance? My mum has £29 credit with next top up due in July...

Just went to top up by £10 now fully expecting to be told "as you have credit we can use that" as previously, but now it's not giving that option & just going straight to the top up using debit card option!!!

Can you no longer top up using unused credit?

    Absolute joke if so!

Are there any other providers who piggy back off EE that you can just use as a basic PAYG SIM without the need to top up unless your extremely low on credit?

You shouldn't actually need to topup. As I understand it 1p will just round up the 3 month's usage to £10 and deduct the remainder from your credit. This will happen until your credit reaches £0 or you don't have enough credit balance to pay the roundup. Then they give you a brief window to topup again. So depending on your usage it may actually be a slight improvement, although I don't think many customers will benefit.

    Yes, rwg.
    https://www.rwgmobile.wales/webshop/offers/order-a-sim/

    Pay £1, rates are 5p/5p/1p.
Requirement is one call or text every 90 days. Otherwise sim will be restricted and you can call them to reactivate. Minimum topup after initial £1 is £5 by website, text, or nowmobile voucher.

    Otherwise there is lyca....
