Fuse Energy, anybody with them?

I just signed up for Fuse for Gas yesterday (finally rid of EDF after a 4 year fight over a faulty gas meter), and there was no referral option, but I went ahead anyway. I went to track how the switch was going, and I see they're now offering £100 (for both referrer and referee) to switch.

So, if you're thinking of doing so, get someone you know to refer you (or google and there's plenty of sites where people post their codes).

I found a code online and now have the £100 credit pending my first bill being paid.

I don't know for certain whether or not Fuse have recently updated their app/website, as I have only recently entered the 49 day switching window. But I am now in the 49 day switching window and can now see when selecting a new fixed tariff that I can select the start date. It allows me to choose any date in the future up to and including the day after my current fixed tariff expires. Presumably the existing tariff expires at the end of the day stated as the expiry date. That's more than 28 days in advance, but not quite 49 days as I am now a few days into the 49 day switching window.

ETA: what I would say is the page offering the new tariff options might be confusing at first sight. The options are given in cost order, and I really liked the one at the top that helpfully indicated it was the cheapest option for me available from Fuse. I was going to apply for it but then realised it was my existing tariff that will be expiring soon!

Just a warning about Fuse and their shady payment practice; Despite my annual usage being agreed by them in writing at £1,356, which is £113 per month, they're wanting me to pay £146 per month. Their justification for this is because they want the account to be in credit on the 1st of April next year, even though my contract with them runs to the end of July. They're expecting me to pay almost £400 a year more than I should just so their balance sheet looks better at an arbitrary point in the year. I've logged a complaint with them and all they've done in repeat the same nonsense back to me again. I'll be going to the ombudsman. I'd avoid them like the plague if I were you.

You've chosen to pay by fixed monthly DD, not variable DD? It's your choice but fixed DD generally comes with an obligation to keep your account in credit at all times.

As above, you will need to keep your account in credit. This will mean generally paying more than 1/12th of your annual cost.

Ofgem expect suppliers to minimise the amount of consumer debt they carry. The ombudsman is likely to agree with Fuse on this.

The other option is for you to pay a sum into your account upfront, so you start in credi and don't fall below zero in the spring. Would this be more acceptable to you?
