Morning @uralmaid and @bluenose1 whilst our location has many positives, I do miss not having a decent train service.1

I suppose we all have to make some compromises on where we live. Our cottage in Northumberland last week was really rural with a beautiful big garden and a stream at bottom of the garden, really peaceful surroundings and the birdsong was fantastic. I loved it, though there were no amenities at all within walking distance.Came home to my much smaller house and garden and did feel slightly discontented for a while.
However not sure I would be suited to a very rural life as gardening etc to me is a chore. Won’t be putting house up for sale anytime soon.Did download a bird app to identify the bird song on holiday but couldn’t even figure out how to record….Money SPENDING Expert2 -
I find that Merlin is a very good birdsong-identifying app, and it’s easy to use 🙂3

Morning @uralmaid I hope that you have been enjoying this glorious weather. Fingers crossed that our gardens will also enjoy this bit of warmth, and things will finally begin to grow at a quicker rate. Meanwhile, I will enjoy my yellow rose and purple geraniums which are looking great.
@bluenose1 how was your trip to the Botanic Gardens?0 -
Morning @Humboldt. Glorious indeed. Had a lovely weekend with my daughter. This week I am busy with meetings for the Social centre and our tabletop sale which is happening on Saturday. Fingers crossed we get a good few people through the door. Out tomorrow afternoon with the gardening group doing some weeding and deadheading.Wednesday going to the dentist for my first fitting of my new front two teeth. It's a long story but I have a phobia about dentists and have not been for a lot of years. Found a very understanding dentist (private) and finally went to see him. He was so kind and everything is at my pace. Definitely worth the money. Planted up the last of my garden pots and they look to have taken nicely. A couple on months ago I bought 2 different insect eating plants and the are growing quite fast. Tried before and never managed to keep them going. This time I am religiously feeding them live flies when I can and watering them with rainwater and it seems to be working. Been watching the Woodpeckers on my nut feeder. They come numerous times each day - one adult and one young one and it's lovely to see the adult feeding the young one. Hope you have a lovely week.1

Hi @uralmaid, glad that you enjoyed the weekend. As always, you have a busy week ahead. Hopefully others reading your latest post will be inspired to become involved in the myriad of community projects that are available. Our local library showcases local volunteering opportunities and there really is something for everyone, including me. Good to read that you have found a good dentist, they are rare these days, and that is the reason my DH and I also recently went private. Like you, I find such joy in our garden. I must admit to being a bit envious of your woodpecker family visits. Hope the dental appointment goes well.1

Afternoon all.
@Humboldt , can’t remember why but I didn’t end up going to the Botanic Gardens, will definitely go in next few weeks. It’s only 15 minutes from ours so can go anytime really. Debating whether to go the Southport Flower Show as never been to one before, though as I am a fair weather friend might wait and see what forecast is like closer to the time. Try gardening so far this year has been deadheading roses and weeding, can’t seem to motivate myself to garden much.
@uralmaid - Oh wow how lucky you are to have woodpeckers in the garden, only ever seen one during my 4 years of walks in our nearby woods, though have heard them a few times. Best of luck for Wednesday, I hate going the dentist as well. Thanks for recommendation of Merlin app, I use it during my walk in woods and unbelievable how many different types of birds there are hidden in the trees singing. Saw a robin today, which always cheers me up.Money SPENDING Expert1
