Morning @uralmaid I am beginning to think that you and I are managing a bed and breakfast! It is so lovely to have visitors, but I feel like I have been prepping for days for the family who are visiting this weekend. Hope that the dental appointment went well.

@bluenose1 very good advice regarding worrying less.  My DH and I stopped watching the news during lockdown and have not felt the need to do so since. I too 'filter' what I watch and read these days.  Might be worth checking out the gardening thread re: low maintenance, evergreen shrubs.

the Euonymus group of shrubs are really easy to care for- will grow into a low mound or if planted by a wall will grow up it!  I have Emerald Gaiety & Silver Queen but there are several others- all evergreen. I think some of mine came from a skip years ago!

Thanks for your good wishes re: the dentist. I had an appointment today and they were brilliant. So gentle and kind to me.  I had to have a lie down when I got back as just felt exhausted with the stress althugh that might have been caused by the £1100 dent in my bank balance)   Another horrible day here weather wise.  You are right @Humboldt - it's like a b and b here at the moment. I am not complaining though as we can go months without having any visitors.  Looking forward to out latest ones coming tomorrow so I am going to make some Banana Bread.  Have a good weekend everyone x

Thanks @Katiehound. Funny you should say that I bought a euonymus emerald gaiety the other day as Alan Titchmarsh recommended them.  Also saw a lovely standard euonymus in Home Bargains today for £24.99 and tempted to get it as they were a good height.  Our front garden is quite open plan and would give some height to the border.
@uralmaid glad dentist visit went well, though can imagine the pain of £1,100 loss to bank account!!!
Got to be done though and I am sure you will reap the benefits. Enjoy having your visitors.

Hi @uralmaid hope that you enjoyed the weekend.  Ouch to the dentist bill, but glad to read that your appointment went well.

@Katiehound I love that you rescued the shrubs from a skip and gave them a new home.

Thanks @Humboldt. We had a lovely weekend. Unfortunately woke up this morning with a horrid sore throat. By 11am I was sneezing like a don't know what. Every bone in my body is aching too. Come to bed at 6pm. I thought at first it was hay fever but now am not so sure.

Sorry to hear that you are unwell @uralmaid. I know of a few people who have had similar symptoms to those that you have described.  Take care and hope that you feel better soon.

Get well soon @uralmail. The one advantage is that you will appreciate being well again.
Off to Northumberland on Saturday so need to motivate myself to start packing etc.
