@Katiehound - yes I checked them out first.  Ridiculous prices.  The one I want is £549.  They are out of stock. So is AO.  I am just going to wait until they get them back in I think.  Had to order some oil today which was a big chunk but done well really as the last order was October.
Had a lovely afternoon walking with 2 friends and a dog - good for the soul.

Do you not find that tumble driers shrink the clothes? We haven't had a dryer since a washer/dryer in our very first flat.  Now, if we can't hang the clothes outside we use a dehumidifier with the clothes hung in the utility room.

Just to make you snigger, when I told a friend about that exorbitantly priced s/s tumbler dryer she replied that she would expect a little man to be standing there doing all the washing for her at that price!

No, but ... I don't tumble everything. I hang up to dry my best underwear, my hand-knitted socks, DH's swimming trunks, most of my trousers and any cardigan which was either hand-knitted or doesn't say it can be tumbled. Even random things which have sneaked in when they shouldn't have done have been OK.

When the boys were home, t-shirts and sweatshirts went in the drier, and usually jog bottoms too (they didn't wear jeans in those days). Their school shirts and trousers also went that way, but I did hang their ties and blazers up to dry - I think the blazers would have been fine, but they would have been expensive and inconvenient to replace!

I have shrunk a few things in my time, but in the washing machine not the drier!

Had a lazy day yesterday as my shoulder was troubling me and I had a sinus headache.  Only things I did were modify the bird seed feeder as the pesky cow manages to get hold of the loop it hangs from and jiggles it so that the seed falls out. Made lunch which was salmon fillet with new potatoes, green beans and home made watercress sauce. Yummy.  Still on my quest to source a new tumble dryer. Keep thinking I have found an alternative only to be thwarted by it not being in stock or silly prices.  An example - I found a Samsung one which matches my washing machine.  Only place it is in stock is Argos.  Great thought I.  However when I went to put it in my basket I found that if I collect it the price is £599. However, if I order it to be delivered the price is £700 not including the delivery charge. How can that be?  I won't order it on principle.  Can't go and collect it as me and hubby aren't up to loading it into the car and out the other end really.

Heard the cuckoo today. l also had fun watching a Muntjac deer stood in the garden under the bird feeder with 2 ducks.  Did lots of reading too. In my defense I need to rest my shoulder as I am part of a group at our village social centre putting on an afternoon cream tea on Sunday so I will be busy all day.

Have you looked at Redhill domestic appliances? (RDO) free delivery.
I had to use them some years ago when my integrated fridge freezer gave up the ghost- they were the only firm that had a machine that fitted the space (pretty much in the whole country!)

@uralmaid I hope that you had a lovely time walking with friends.  How lucky are you having a nature reserve within walking distance from your house. If you haven't already done so, you need to get on with checking those premium bonds!

Sorry, but I have never owned a tumble dryer so cannot comment.  How lovely that so many have offered advice though.

@bluenose1  'Sitting on a sunbed in Kos at moment, thoroughly enjoying the sunshine and relaxation'. I think on the day that I read this, it was another day of rain here. Go you! I hope that you are having the best of times.

@Nebulous2 'We do most of our drying with a mixture of solar and wind power - or outside' - This did make me smile.

ao.com are quite good.  When our old washer conked out on a Saturday we found a replacement that was in stock and delivered the next day.  Took away our old one too.  Become a member and some of the member prices can more than cover the annual cost of membership, with worthwhile added benefits.

We normally use AO or our local Euronics store.  I have gone over so many reviews and test scores in Which that I am bleary eyed.  I am not in a rush. My current dryer is still working but not performing as well as it used to.  My husband think flippin Which is the oracle.  I am not convinced as they don't test every make and model. Watch this space......

What I find with Which is that they pick, say, model FX99 as the 'best', but you can only find FX98 available, which doesn't have quite the same features and you worry about whether you'll miss what it hasn't got, or they did review FX97 and it was nowhere near as good and you just don't have the first clue whether the 98 will be nearer the 99 or the 97!

And what I found when I replaced my oven was that although the showroom had a dozen models, only 2 with the configuration I wanted were going to fit.
