@uralmaid drum roll please. A £25 win for us on the premium bonds this month.
You do tend to notice how expensive certain things are when you know it would cost less to make them yourself. That said, it is nice to support local business now and again.1 -
Well a lovely time was had with friends this weekend. We managed to choose and sort the bookings for some time together in the motorhomes. A weekend at a music festival not too far away from us and also a whole week in Whitby which also incorporates the Steampunk weekend. Just awaiting confirmation that another music festival which we went to last year is going ahead again and we shall book that too. This week we are heading to Cambridgeshire to help BIL take down a shed and pack up lots of stuff which we were supposed to do a couple of weeks ago and had to cancel due to Covid. Great joy!!!! . Been very warm here but really windy. Was really annoyed this weekend too as we spotted a drive away awning which would fit our moho for sale locally. Despite messaging them as to whether it is still available have had no reply. I then searched and found they were also advertising on another site which gave their phone number, so have sent a message on that. As yet no reply. I wish people would remove their adverts if they are sold, it would save a lot of hassle. Hope everyone had a nice weekend.5

Hi @uralmaid I was pleased to read that you had a good time with friends at the weekend. Great that you have also been able to add several things to your calendar. Shame about the awning. Enjoy your trip to Cambridgeshire this week. I find it interesting to read how others fill their days when retired, and it is reassuring to know that whilst we are all so wonderfully unique, we are also similar in many ways.1

@Humboldt - it was good news re: the awning. I had a look on preloved and they were also advertising there and it gave a phone number. Messaged them and they responded. We collected it on Sunday morning. It was a real bargain as it cost us more than £200 less than the same one new. Now going to start planning our outfits for the Steampunk holiday.3

Ooh glad you got your awning and enjoyed your weekend with your friends.
Had never heard of Steampunk until the other month when there were two contestants on Pointless in outfits each day.
Have never been to a Festival, my kids have been to Glastonbury a few times and loved it, I would need as a minimum my own bed in a caravan with non sharing toilet….
In addition to the cruise I booked last week for 2025 have just booked a week away end of this month to Kos with my sister.
Good luck with taking the shed down, hope it’s not too difficult and time consuming, you are very good to offer.Money SPENDING Expert1 -
@bluenose1 Thanks. We also need our own toilet!!. We have a motorhome so we do have our own facilities, and our own bed. Ooh I bet you are looking forward to Kos. The weather should be lovely. The cruise will be something to look forward to for next year too.3

@uralmaid pleased to read that you eventually got the awning, and at a bargain price. I have heard that the Whitby Steampunk and Goth weekends are very popular.
@bluenose1 I too have never been to a festival, but it is on our retirement 'to do' list. Also on there is the Coast to Coast walk and a road trip to the Scottish Isles.2
