  • did the next sale this morning at bluewater it was awful:

Usually go every year get there early (about 3.30) have a laugh and a giggle with my friends, got there a bit later this morning, queue was very long, no plastic bags at the front as per usual. It wa slike a mad house, people were there with lots of children, saw loads of buggies, whole families were clearing the rails in to their bags leaving a child sat with 10 bags while they went and got more, then in the hour long queue sorted through what they wanted and dumped stuff along the qeue line, then there were those who queued up to pay and then let every other member of their family (plus there 10+ bags) join them at the till to then pay seperatly -

Felt really sorry for the children i saw in there though, it was roasting i had a vest top on and was hot, some poor babies had full snowsuit gear on, then there are the toddlers who looked very worried, and who wouldn't with all the pushing and grabbing stuff enough to scare adults let alone children

unbelieveable the poor staff hats off to them couldn't deal with that, the heat, saw people rowing in the qeue line as some peoples were just taking the mick think they may have market stalls to sell the stuff as no way does anyone need that quantity of stuff.

Needless to say won't be going again, no bargain is worth that

I got up & made it to Next in Guildford at 5am today, but wasn't overly impressed. I had my £50 worth of vouchers from the Barclaycard Platinum deal & needed stuff for my 1 year old son (who stayed at home, snoring with his Daddy!)

I tried to find my Husband a suit, but NONE of the trousers matched the jackets in his size. . . I did get some nice bits for our son, including a really smooth jacket! I'll be taking my Mum to Portsmouth on Monday & we'll have a look in the Clearance Shop there - also the M&S one - maybe fit in a trip to the Cadburys Shop whilst we're there ;)

    Good luck bargain hunting!

Crap in the sense of getting up at 4am(?) to be in the long queue for entry into a shop for 5am then fight for all the 'bargains' then queue for ages then go home. That, to me, is crap.

more bargains for me then :D:p

and its only twice a yr ,i dont see 4am any other days of the year :rotfl:

this IS a Money saving forum after all  so if i can get my kids kitted out for half the price then erm yeah it IS worth it.......

    IMO :D

ps i queued for 20 mins to pay not 4 hours or anything lol

Its not really money saving at all though is it? You might as well go to primark. The top you bought for a fiver probably cos 50p to make. Thats the whole problem, the top is bought in for the sale that was made cheaper than their normal stock to make poeple think they are getting a bargain when in reality theyre getting something they could get in primark that matched quality wise.
  • I think a lot of people buy stuff to sell on Ebay, 'specially when it is dirt cheap in the outlet. Did anyone see the fighting on the News at Oxford Street Next today?? it was hilarious.

I went into a small town-centre one today, bought two pairs of slippers for £3.00 each, I think the quality of the clothes is awful, I tried on a coat and the material was very thin. They were still putting out more stock at 3pm today. Mainly velour seperates and hoodies though, plus those vile loudly printed tunics though.
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

    one life, live it!
  • I went to Cribbs Causeway today. I happened to pass 'Next' and I know it's awful, to some really serious Next shoppers, but I had my fifth child with me in her buggy. I hadn't thought much about the Next sale, so didn't plan ahead and leave her behind, so as not to upset other very serious shoppers. We entered the Children's shop at around midday and got some lovely bits and pieces. We queued for about 10 mins and whilst it was busy it was percfectly manageable.
It is outrageous that the encouraged sale fever Next breeds, leads to arrogant comments suggesting parents should leave their children behind, or control them better. What arrogance. Families with kids needs clothes to, and it is not always possible, or necessary to leave children at home.
I personally think it is disgusting, that as a company Next encourage and feed this ridiculous fever and shocking behaviour by starting their sales at 5am etc. It is horrible to expect staff to work these hours, and the staff I saw and spoke to were exhausted and hot. The staff on the floor had no idea about anything as they worked in the stockroom and never on the shop floor, so they were bombarded with questions they new nothing about.
If Next started their sales at 9am, all their stock would still sell.

You can get your kids kitted out for about the same (or less) during the rest of the year. I do love the Next brand though as it is the only brand that allows me to buy at really cheap prices (at the outlet), kit my kids out and resell on ebay for more!! And I have never been to a Next shop sale , never mind one at 5am!
