My biggest downfall is crisps all flavours and if i eat one i eat a hundred packets well not a hundred but you all get the picture.. at class a few weeks ago someone gave us an idea about making your own crisps and i thought nah rubbish but i tried them and they work..

You peel a potato or 20 using a potato peeler slice the potato and put onto a micorwave plate or dish you can if you want to spray the plate with a little frylight to stop sticking but i havnt needed to microwave for 1min 30 on each side or do what i do and just microwave one side for 2 mins see how they go and then blast for another 30 odd seconds

these turn out like plain crisps and you can add any flavours before during or after cooking.. they time consuming and i eat more as im doing it but they free on green and my whole family love them.. and takes the craving for crisps away..

Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.

I joined 2 weeks ago, but missed my first weigh in, as I had been to the drs that day and discovered my blood pressure was through the roof! So felt thoroughly depressed and couldn't bear the thought of standing on the scales.
Went to my weigh-in last night and had lost 2 1/2 lbs - so quite happy with that. Im determined to avoid being put on any medication for my blood pressure, so sticking to the plan and exercise will hopefully help me avoid it.

• I bought some Quorn Lime & Chilli Dippers the other day and am trying to work out the syn value.
This is what it says on the slimming world site:

Quorn Lime & Chilli Dippers, 10 pack, chilled 22g each
Original 1½ Syns Green 1½ Syns

does that mean each or for the pack?

• Hmmm, I would read that as each:eek:
• That is what I thought, but I did think it was quite high especially as it is quorn.

I guess I wont be having many of them - I was planning having them later this week so if anyone finds out which is correct then please let me know

Thank

Hello all.

Well, I joined up last night and am still trying to get my head around the 'rules'. I've realised I'm going to have to learn how to cook better than I do now! I don't normally do things from scratch, mostly because it doesn't seem worth it when cooking for one. But anyway.... I will now!

I've heard people talk about a syn calculator somewhere... but I can't finding it on the SW website. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'd like to just see what some of my short-cuts would cost me in syns.

Ta.

Isn't the calculator in the members only part of the website??

Welcome alboard, the great thing about cooking from scratch is that you know exactly what is going into your food - and i think that is so unbeliably important these days.

Have a scoot throught the old style section of this forum - batch cooking has to be the cheapest way to cook and although you need some decent freezer space you can just reheat syn free nutritious meals as you go. There are also plenty of recipes on there and loads of websites that promote batch cooking (just google it).

Or if you have a recipe that you currently are confident to make why not post it here and I'm sure someone can convert it into a SW recipe that is either free or low in syns.

Have a good un everyone!

Well done on your weight loss, fingers crossed the Slimming World plan will help you stay off of medication.

Before I started SW I had very bad Cystitis attacks and was on a long course of antibiotics for it and I also used to take them whenever I knew an attack was coming on, after a few weeks on SW my attacks stopped and I haven't taken antibiotics for it since, I can even eat citrus fruits now which was a big no-no when I regularly got attacks, I swear it was down to SW it stopped.

I just wish it would sort out my Irritable Bowel Syndrome, I have a lot of problems with that, I would have thought eating lots of fruit and veg, water and high fibre stuff would have helped it but it hasn't unfortunately

for making syn free on green crisps :)

Miss_phish - I would have thought extra fibre would irritate IBS even more?

I lost 1.5lbs this week - would have liked a little more, but I'm never satisfied LOL

Re- Quorn Dippers - it is for each dipper

Have you tried using one of those crips makers? Or has anyone on here? It looks like a great idea.

I've been told a high fibre diet is the way to go to help with constipation, although I also get it going the other way occasionally too, sorry, too much information!
I'm going to have to get to the doctors soon because it's causing me a lot of bother at the moment.
