Yes they are electronic, the bit you stand on is like a square metal box, then just have a wire connecting them to a very small digital display on the desk. I've never noticed a beep at all, will have to listen out for that next week. Do all SW groups use the same type of scales?

Good luck with your weigh in, I can relate to the butterflies!!

They should use the same scales and they should get them regularly checked at the consultants meetings. Sounds dodgy to me.

sounds like ours, ours played up a bit the other week, siad i'd put 4 stone on, but consultant did something and re-set them and they were fine after that.
the consulatant should ensure they are on a completely flat surface, and they should def beep when they have settled, its not a loud beep though, so you may have missed it. were there a lot of people who had put weight on?
  • Hi,

Can I just say thanks for the lovely messages and PM's. I really do appreciate it. The really funny thing is that since I told myself I was going to stop I have felt so much better and relaxed about things.
I am still trying to eat in the "Slimming World Way" but am just not going to get bogged down by it all.

My OH is due back on 29th March (away since 27th Nov 07) and I would have loved to have lost some weight by the time he comes back but it is just not happening.
Hopefully I will be moving house on 5th March all being well - we have been waiting since September when we had our offer accepted!!!

I will pop to boots one day soon and get on their scales and try and keep track every couple of weeks, more to make sure I am not putting any more on, to try and keep some sort of lid on things.

Once again thanks, and I will pop back and let you know how things are.

    LM

    xx

ps Snuggles regarding the scales issue as you have been told they should beep - I think it is loud enough to hear when you are standing on them - if you are concerned contact your consultant now, she may suggest you pop along to another class and check. xx

I would definitely have said something if I'd put on 4 stone!! :D

I will listen for that beep next week thanks. They definitely didn't settle last night though, the reading was still flicking up and down when the weigh lady wrote down my weight.

I don't know if many people had put on weight, it's such a big class and our consultant only mentions those who have lost and maintained, so you don't know who has put on, or how many have.

Now I know what's supposed to happen, I will feel more confident questioning it if I still have concerns next week - thanks!

welldone , charlies mum , amie , rialooney , nessa , :j :j :j :j , and snuggles , dont dispair you,re like me i only lost it slowly to get to target last time . I only was talking to my sister ria last night about the fact last time i did s/w i didnt lose anything for the first four weeks and i got myself so worked up , i told my consultant if i didnt lose i was off . but when i got on the scales id lost 3lb and it just kicked in . I think sometimes it can be a mental block , or the fact were not weighing the things were ment to or forgetting to write down what we eat , syns as well just quessing ive had this much , oh well it want matter as if the scales want no  , weve all did it . Thats why i still write down what i have , i even keep a little note book in my bag and write down everything when im out or at work its easy to forget

Anyway, the ones I used felt really wobbly and the reading wouldn't settle, it kept fluctuating up and down by 5 lbs!!! It never really settled, and she seemed to just write down the middle reading, which had me at a pound on. Is this normal? My mum got weighed on the other scales and she said as soon as she got on them the weight reading was fixed, it wasn't fluctuating up and down like mine did. She said I should ask the consultant about it, but I didn't want to make a fuss or look like i was trying to make excuses!!!

Mine always tends to fluctuate for what seems like ages, but they never write it down until it settles on one and beeps. Like others have said, the beep is quite quiet, but they shouldn't write your weight down without it settling.

    Thanks Peachyest

I am so glad I came on this thread, everyone is so nice and encouraging, it is great.

I write everything down that I eat, go nowhere without my book (it is my new bible as such) and I still can't get over just how much you can eat, I must say I prefer Green days especially during the week, so much easier for eating lunch at work.

Bit scared of Red to be honest, seems to be a lot of weighing to be done, or am I reading it wrong?
