    Hello everyone. :)

I've decided to join SW. I lost 5 stone in 5 months with them almost 8 years ago, got a bit discouraged when the weightloss slowed down, and i've since put it all back on (plus an extra couple of stone :( ). I've sickened myself. I'm mad at myself, and i'm a bit scared of what i'm doing to myself. Recently, i've felt more and more unsettled. My 40th birthday is coming up and i've realised I don't want to be this way until I die! Melodramic? - just a bit lol, but true.
I read a post by another MSE member, and i've made up my mind to start again. I don't go on diets every few weeks (last time it was a couple of years ago with LighterLife, and before that it was almost 8 years ago with SW).
I looked online to find my nearest class, and the next one is next Monday, my 40th birthday! I think it's a sign - life begins, and all that. :) I wasn't looking forward to my birthday, but i'm excited now!

I'm looking forward to joining you here. :)
  • well as I said in my earlier post I am going to start tomorrow and this is my menu, could you look as it and tell me if it is ok?

Thought I would start with a red day

bfast - porridge with milk and sweetner (would this be a hea and heb)?

lunch - ham salad sandwich - bread from 400g loaf (heb)
    fat free greek yog, fruit
    quavers - use syns

dinner - can I have a breakfast type of meal? low fat sausages, bacon, grilled mushrooms and tomatoes, poached eggs
    sugar free jelly and fruit

probably use the rest of my syns with a couple of jaffa cakes or party rings, I do have a sweet tooth:confused:

    Thanks for your help

  • Jackieb What a brave step, going to SW on your birthday. I used my Christmas money to pay for the first 6 months groups, last year. I was really chuffed that I lost nearly 2 stone. Then disaster struck and the house flooded  So end of weight loss, although I had not put any on untill the last couple of weeks.

A huge thank you to all those words of support and encouragement after last nights group.

I was doing really well today, porridge for breaskfast, fruit mid morning, jacket and tuna for lunch. Took the kids to the soft play and ignored the chocolate machine in the corner. Did not listen to the smarties that DS3 spilt on the table. Even though they were calling to me to eat them! Jacket, roast veg and grilled chicken for tea. More Fruit.

then in a moment of non thinking I Joined DS1 in his customary bowl of cornflakes for supper awash in milk and sugar! Had already had most of my sins for the day in mayo on the lunch jacket and Honey and oil on the roast veg. Sigh

May tomorrow be a better day and may the sign on the cereal cupard door remind me not to do the same tomorrow.

I'm thinking of paying in advance - less chance of chickening out if i've already paid. (i'm not going to chicken out, but you know, just incase lol I won't!)
  • Jackieb You could always buy a twelve week countdown. Seems to work for me, at least it keeps me going to group.:j

I think might do that. :)
  • hey everyone, i found this thread on google, whilst researching slimming world and thought it looked like a good place of motivation.
i'm thinking of joining next monday as i missed last nights group.
i'm 17 and hoping to lose weight before i turn 18 next january, or hopefully a good amount before i have to go back to college in september as my weight made me so unconfident there last year i had to quit :(
i've done scottish slimmers before and i lost a stone in a month, but slimming world looks so much easier.
so yeah, just thought i'd say hi and i am going to read through all of this thread now to get motivated and hopefully start using the slimming world techniques before i join to get into the swing of things.

    Welcome Lisa and Jackie B

Thanks to numbers for the slimming world website details. I just logged in and it is fab. Postal membership is WAY better than online membership. You get all the things you get from bodyoptimise (the online syns calculator and online food diary for example) as well as FAR more! hth

I am having a good day. Did lots of digging in garden:j and have had 13 syns (less if I consider ww bread as less than normal bread). That is a good day for me so I award myself an :A .

Good luck everyone and night night.

PS Wanabekiwi your daily menu looks good to me. The milk would be one of your HEAs and 28g porridge would be HEB. In the book it says 28g porridge and 1 Oat / Scan Bran is ONE of your HEB allowances. I think that might suggest that porridge on its own without the scanbran doesn´t have enough fibre or something..
As for your dinner I know that sausages aren´t free, they are synned. The bacon, eggs and mushrooms would be free. You could have vegetarian quorn sausages free I think. hth

Just to say thanks to you all for your mutual support, it's really good to be able to read the comments and advice when the going gets tough.
Good luck to you all and have a brilliant SW day.
