Alison,
Competetive prices and great designs are the reason 'Sofa Sofa' are so good.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
Just to say - we bought a leather sofa and chair over a year ago from DFS and have been very impressed. The salesman did try to stiff us for the payment protection - and "leather protector" - we just had to firmly say "NO".
The only thing to watch is Black Horse (The finance company they use) - who have shoddy telesales (But who doesn't these days!).
Hope that helps some people - just felt the need to stick up for DFS.

Sofa Sofa will not 'stiff you' for payment protection as they do not offer any form of 'interest free finance'
Wake up and smell the coffee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is no such thing as a free lunch, and all finance charges are costed in with the price of the furniture.
As regards fabric or leather protection, Sofa Sofa's cost is at least half of that charged by DFS/SCS/Harveys/Courts etcBe ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
Bunnyears you are a star!
We bought a DFS sofa for over £3000 which we were told would last years as the leather would soften etc. so would actually improve with age and last years and years.
Within a year my Daughter cracked her back on the frame when she sat down.
We phoned the store and was told to look in the phone book for someone to fix it!
I went to the store while they were in the midle of some big promotion and complained very loudly until someone came round.
He said it was our fault as my Daughter had flopped on the sofa, they were intended for sitting on nicely so was our fault for misusing them!! Even more ironic as their TV ad at the time was showing people doing cartwheels on them.
We have been looking for new sofa's and just been on that sofa sofa site and they have exactly what we are looking for at a special offer of £299 with £50 off for internet orders, what a bargain, thanks bunnyears, happy me ;DWaddle you do eh?0 -
My boss has recently had a complaint with a furniture store (not DFS) over faulty sofas and had, had no positive response from the manager.
On Saturday he phoned and asked if the manager was in, he was but on the phone so he said that if the manager didn't call him back within the hour he was going to hire a van and bring the sofa to the store. He would then sit on it outside the store and tell everyone going in not to buy anything as their goods were faulty and customer service non-existant. Within ten minutes the manager had phoned back and came out on Sunday to see the problems and said they will have it fixed ASAP.0 -
This is for Greenstuff.
In the main, all furniture carries at the least a 2 year guarantee should it fail through normal wear and tear.
Should a problem occur, through normal use or even if it has been the subject of abuse, the manufacturer (as at Sofa Sofa) should collect such items and return for inspection and/or repair.
If the item has failed through normal use, or if a component had broken down, it should be repaired FOC and returned to the customer.
If, after inspection the furniture has been abused, and believe me some of the furniture I have seen returned I wouldn't put my dog to sleep on it, an estimate of repair is sent to the customer before repairs are started.
If the customer is not happy with this, a mamber of Trading Standards is called in to give an independant opinion of these items.
If I spent £3000 on furniture, I would expect it to last a very long time, and certainly deserve better service.
DFS Salespeople are payed on a commission basis for what they sell, so when you report a fault, as there is no money in this for them they are not interested. At Sofa Sofa, we do not believe in pressurising people in to buying, and are Salespeople act as advisors to those who are seeking good old fashione service and advice.
It would be interesting to know how far you got with your problem at DFS.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
Its not only DFS that put prices up in only a handful of stores then put it down for the "Sale" , i can guarantee most big stores do this, Woolworths, Homebase,B+Q , Debenhams its all a big scam.0

Well thank you furniture man, always nice to be winked at!
All that happened with DFS was a man came round and re stuffed the cushions, this did make it a lot more comfy and we got a bit more use out of it.
They said it was not covered under guarantee as this only covers upholstery and not the structure.
I said it was the cushions at fault and was told I should be taking the innards out of the leather cover and teasing it apart once a month, even if I thought this wasn't a kerfuffle enough no one bothered to tell me this, and it certanly wasnt part of their sales pitch!
The guy who came round was nice enough though.
By this point they were all worn and tatty so I was glad to see the back of them.
I have just ordered 2 new ones from sofa sofa, they promised a £50 discount on each for internet orders but when I got to checkout this wasnt applied.
I phoned the helpline and was assured it would be applied before payment was taken but the money has just gone out from my account without the discount, I have sent them an email saying refund the discount or cancel the order, lets just hope their customer service is better than DFS!
Oh why is nothing ever simple????
I will let you know what happens.

How do you get the discount at sofa sofa , is it certain sofas i couldnt see it mentioned anywhere onsite.0

It was on a particular sofa, the 'Manhattan' in the fixed cover section.
It says a further £50 off for internet orders on every cream Manhattan sofa, which I ordered 2 of.
I tried phoning them yesterday but there was no answer so sent them an email, still no reply.
I will let you know as soon as I hear in case you are thinking of placing an order and would like to know how good they are at dealing with problems and complaints.
