Can you open the co op account first and then request a switch once it’s open?
    Yes you can.

Do you have to phone up to request a switch into an already open account or is there a way you can login online and do it?

There's an online form you can fill in to switch as an existing customer. It links to an Adobe pdf thing to fill out and submit. You need to know your account details though.

Can anyone say what is required for the account application? Obviously you need to fill in personal details, etc., but what I'm asking about is extra requirements, such as a selfie holding photo ID or a video (things that always seem to cause me problems!). Thanks.

I applied through the website and so far there's been no request for ID, selfies, etc. Just needed my personal details to verify me electronically.

I cannot remember what date they quoted for switch completion during the application process and it's not in any email received so far; roughly how many days after application did they say?
I applied today and switch date for me 12 Feb
Mine was the same day, first available apparently

A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

How long can Co-op take to accept your application?  We applied for 2 sole accounts yesterday, but not received anything as yet.
The first email I received ended up in my spam folder so maybe worth checking yours.
I just applied, the form states at the bottom it's usually next day but can take up to 5 - no-one but they know how long it will take, probably longer due to the influx of serial switchers
True, but it doesn't hurt to check your spam folder as they will be sending you emails as part of the application process.
Yes I see what you mean, mine went straight into Gmail Updates folder though

Just received the below email - Does this mean they want more evidence or is this the normal email before the account opens?

Mine is like that which I read to mean it's going ok.

I am fortunate in that I already have a current account with them and don't have to wait for but they ignored my request for a specific switch date and selected a switch date themselves. They didn't confirm they had received my switch request, and they didn't tell me about the change in switch date, which is now a week earlier than I wanted it to be. I found that out from the bank I am switching from. It doesn't cause me a problem but why did they change the date and not even tell me?

My online savings account, applied for and approved 2 days ago, still does not show online. COOP CS says it takes some time for the account to be opened, and they cannot tell me how long it will take to become available online, or when I can make a deposit. I would recommend that if you plan to go for the £50 bonus from the savings account that you apply for that account asap after your current account is up and running.

Getting through to COOP CS on the phone takes a lot of patience. 35 minutes wait. The good news is that CS seem to be competent, if limited in what they can do by the somewhat archaic COOP processes.

As previously mentioned, I applied for the switch at 11:20pm on 15 January. As an existing Co-operative Bank account holder, I had to submit the application via the Adobe Acrobat Sign system. Having still only received the two automatically generated email acknowledgements from Adobe, but nothing from the Co-op themselves, I decided to call the bank today (on 03457 212212).

After holding on for over 30 minutes (was warned about the time scale at the start of the call) I eventually spoke with an agent, who went through the usual security procedures. She then advised that according to their system they had received my application and had begun working on it today. While on the call I received a text message from the
Co-operative Bank thanking me for switching to the Co-op and advising that the switch will complete on 25 January.
