Co Op Switch offer (seen 15th January 2024)

Off topic, the other day, TSB gave me £25 in compensation. I did not ask for it but it is welcome.RetSol said:Another Barclays to Co-op switcher here, waiting with baited breath...Good luck, everyone!
I am glad that Co-op seems to inform you if Barclays have rejected the switch and gives you another chance.
I tried to switch from Barclays to TSB last year. What a faff! I received conflicting communications about the switch and was then out of time to get back on track, IIRC.
Not that it would have mattered.
One of the problems was that TSB had recorded my address incorrectly and therefore it did not match Barclays' records.
Only yesterday, a year and many attempts (online, on the phone and in the branch) later, I finally managed to get hold of someone at TSB in "Complaints" who was able to rectify the problem.
Back on topic, Co-op gave me (by letter dated 26th January) an estimated switch start date of 5th February and told me that I would be contacted once the switch process had started.
Nothing more as of 6th February from either Co-op or Barclays.
I have registered for online banking and sent Co-op a secure message asking for an update on the switch.
One Co-op perk which I have noticed is that their credit card gives 0.3% cashback to Co-op members. Not a showstopping perk but a small improvement on the Barclays Rewards credit card.

With the Barclaycard Rewards card there is no charge to make a purchase in a foreign currency or make a cash withdrawal in a foreign currency outside the UK, however.RetSol said:

My switch completed (I thought) today, but when I log into Halifax the account still shows. But the balance I had in it has transferred to co op and shows as a balance transfer. Shouldn’t the Halifax account be gone?0

Sometimes takes until the next day to fully update.overspender22 said:My switch completed (I thought) today, but when I log into Halifax the account still shows. But the balance I had in it has transferred to co op and shows as a balance transfer. Shouldn’t the Halifax account be gone?1 -
In case anyone is still waiting since initial application like I am (applied the day before the offer was pulled) - I called them on Saturday, and they said that they could see my application was still processing, but the applications team weren't working weekends. They promised a call back by Thursday with an update.

Still nothing for me, just checked the app and online banking. Did a final Barclays mystery shop before the proposed switch yesterday AND tried to confirm alĺ other accounts had now been closed (it will never end) and nothing was mentioned.DPR87 said:

Not saying the various store/chat colleagues would be in the know but I did wonder if anything would be said.
As mine is meant to be Fri 9th Feb I'm a bit hmmmm.....
EDIT - just had a e-mail sending me to the app, message dated 5th Feb. Switch is being processed.
One more rung up the ladder!1 -
I've finally figured out what was missing and received the £100fabsaver said:
Yes that's precisely why I was/am concerned and why I asked here if anyone else had met all the terms without being paid the £100 within a few days.E_zroda said:
I might be wrong here, but I was under the impression that the MSErs that already got their switch bonuses 1) have applied very early after the offer appeared (I hesitated for 2 days and I was given switch date of 13 Feb!) plus 2) they were already a Co-op members/users. Even if you were to raise a query for the lack of £100, with Co-op CS, they can simply quote the T&Cs back to you.fabsaver said:
No it's genuine concern. The fact that others are being paid within 24 hours of meeting the criteria suggests it is an automated process rather than manual.E_zroda said:
Are you sure you are not mistaking envy for concern?fabsaver said:Has anyone else completed all the requirements and not had the £100 paid within a few days?
My switch completed last Friday and the necessary SOs / DDs transferred over as part of that. The email I received from them Monday morning confirmed the only things left to do were pay in £1,000 and 5 debit card transactions. I did both of these things on Monday and the debit card transactions cleared on Tuesday.
However still no £100. I'm getting quite concerned after seeing on here how quickly others seem to be receiving the bonus
A week later and still no £100 would suggest 'the computer says no' but I have no idea why. If I wait the 40 days stipulated in the T&C and my £100 still does not arrive it'll be far too late to do anything about it.
I fall into that group of being an existing account holder who applied for the switch on the day it was launched. It is now 10 days since my switch completed and a week since I jumped through the last of the required hoops. Yet still no bonus
As you say querying it would be a futile exercise, since they will simply quote back the 40 days it says in the T&C.
It would appear to be related to last of the requirements listed in the terms:
"d) has registered for our online banking service"
As an existing account holder already registered for online banking I did not think I had to do anything to meet this condition. I have been checking everyday in the app to see if the £100 had been paid, without success. However this morning I logged into online banking on my desktop computer for the first time since the switch completed. Within a few seconds of logging in I received the final automated email confirming that the £100 incentive had been paid.
Lesson learned: if you are already registered for online banking you need to actually login to meet this requirement. Logging in using the app doesn't count.13 -
Snail mail letter received from Barlcays today confirming the switch going ahead. A bit inconsistent with how they have presented the account names, but the match must be adequate.

Text from the Co-op: "Thanks for switching to The Co-op, your switch will complete on 14/02/2024. Any queries, please contact us on 03457 212 212 Mon-Fri 8am-6pm.".
Co-op account opened 24th January.
Switching from Barclays.
