I'd best do the same, switch process begins today.Nasqueron said:
I suspect it'll be the same with Barclays and the rainy day saver, though technically I no longer qualify as I down graded from Barclays Blue, albeit they left the saver running still. I will move my balance out and close the account after a DD goes on the 8th, 4 days before the switch to cover for thisStargunner said:Just some advice if anyone is switching from Chase. i received an email from Chase today advising that my switch to the Co-op could not be completed due to me having a savings account open with Chase. They advised me to close the savings account and then resubmit the switch, which I have now done.0 -
Just FYI you have to close the account via the messaging in the app, it's pretty straightforward but requires human intervention as the bot can't do it. I had to provide a reason why (should be "none of your business" but I'm not that rude!) and then they processed it after confirming some contact details - though why they need those I don't know as I am already inside the app behind a biometric loginBazzalona13295 said:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The switch has now started today. Direct debits in place and once switch completed will then meet the rest of the criteria.0

Thankyou, I ended up popping in a branch, had to pass by so thought why not. Hopefully those extra accounts are now closed, seems to take a while for them to disappear from the app.Nasqueron said:

Can I ask the people that have already paid in the £1000, did you leave it in for a while or withdraw it again straight away.
Also would it ok to pay in and withdraw a smaller amount several times to make up to £1000
ThanksErrrr...come back later

You can withdraw the £1k as soon as it lands in your account and it doesn't need to be paid in in one go, you can do say 2 lots of £500 or even 1000 lots of £1 or whatever if you so wished.Wesker said:Can I ask the people that have already paid in the £1000, did you leave it in for a while or withdraw it again straight away.

I used my £1,000 for my 5 debit card payments. All done on the same day.Wesker said:Can I ask the people that have already paid in the £1000, did you leave it in for a while or withdraw it again straight away.

No problem if you don’t deposit the £1,000 in one go - just so long as your deposits add up to £1k at least, you have met the deposit condition1 -
I'm also transferring from Barclays to the Co-op. Does anyone know if you have to manually close down a rainy day saver account with a nil balance? Mine has been empty since the 1st December 2023.

It cannot remain open without the Barclays Blue account - there is a post about 1 page before you posted where someone had a Chase switch blocked because it had a linked saver. It would be safer to close it just in caseFishInGlass said:I'm also transferring from Barclays to the Co-op. I've closed mine today. Still showing on the app but its gone from the online page.FishInGlass said:I'm also transferring from Barclays to the Co-op. Does anyone know if you have to manually close down a rainy day saver account with a nil balance? Mine has been empty since the 1st December 2023.
Edit - though as its Barclays you may need to check, double check then check again just in case its mysteriously stayed open. Not convinced mine has been done correctly despite dealing with them through the app and in branch.0
