Had the 'Welcome' e-mail today saying I can register for online banking, but it may take 24 hours before I can do so. It also mentioned that registering for online banking also registers you for the app. My plan of doing the app after the switch just in case their terms ("in the 30 days following the switch") are taken literally wont work so will probably delay doing that.
So on one hand they invite you to register and on the other hand......haha!!

Made 3 applications on Friday night, two of which have been  acknowledged via email (nothing for the 2nd application) all given switch dates of 13th February.

Just wondering if anyone has had to do online selfies before application is completed
Yes i have had to do ID, got an email last week which had an online link which allowed me to upload 2 x id (take photo of drivers licence and utility bill) and take a selfie photo.

Submitted it through same day as had the email (thursday 18th pm) so waiting to hear more either way.  hopefully won't take too long. (initial application done on 17th January)
Just had the email come through with the account number and sort code so at least know the outcome now.

Well I received an email this morning welcoming me once again and providing an account number and sort code. I’ve successful registered online and the app, transferred a nominal £100 in which is now showing (took about 30 minutes).  All good so far. I’ve applied for the online savings account and received an email telling me they’re looking at it etc - just not as quick as many banks but not worried.

So, once I ensure another £900 is put in and hopefully the switch takes place from Barclays on 9 February I think I should be on course for £150 full bonus eventually.  The x5 debit payments are easy to make and there will be x2 DDs from the switching account.

The £100 you've already paid in is unlikely to count towards the £1,000 minimum. The terms state that at least £1,000 must be deposited as part of the switch and/or in the 30 days following the switch completion date.

I had applied 16th and not heard back.  Sent a secure message through e-banking and they replied saying it was processsed on 20th and details of the account are being sent by post.  Seems there is no standard approach by the bank.

Yes, seems some people get e-mails, and others get letters. Applied on the 17th, got e-mail today with sort code and acc. number.

To be on the safe side, I would only put the £1,000 in after the switch is complete.

I had a big "Welcome to the COOP" email today, thanking me for joining the original ethical bank, and advising that I can register for online banking in 24 hours. It then goes on telling me what will happen if my application is for an Every Day Extra account.

I have held a COOP current account, and have used online and app banking since 2021. All I did recently was requesting a switch, which they confirmed by text will happen this week, and opened a savings account, which has been up and running since last week, too.

It seems their processes could do with some streamlining.

Indeed. The terms state the £1k has to be deposited in the "30 calendar days following the switch completing".  Not before, which probably won't count as meeting the terms.

The app isn't mentioned in the offer terms. Only online banking. So delaying the app registration wouldn't buy you anything anyway, and I don't think you need to worry about registering for online banking now.

As the offer is also for existing customers, with existing online banking, I don't think they could reject anyone for having registered for online banking before the switch has completed. It would be quite unreasonable for any bank to expect their customers would delay setting up online banking for what is supposed be your main account :)

Different for the £1,000 deposit and the 5 debit card payments - it is reasonable that they set a time period in which these need to happen to be eligible for the bonus wonga. I will definitely only do them after my switch has been completed.

Though this is just my opinion, you need to decide for yourself what you are doing.

Thanks, had hoped it wasn't required, as we don't have suitable id.

Anyone know if TSB are now requiring online id?

    Thanks
