@Zephyrx no I don't ever use my main current account for switchesZephyrx said:
I hope for your sake that you don't ever use the cooperative bank as your main current account. They truly are the absolute pits. Their service really is off the Richter scale bad.Sumof999 said:just applied - can't wait to be rid of Barclays and I've already done TSB... earliest it can switch is 9th Feb which is a long way off though!0 -
I received the "We're looking forward to welcoming you..." letter so used the sort code and account number to attempt to register for online banking. Answered various Experian security questions correctly and received a text with a verification code but said it couldn't verify me. Tried twice but refused both times.
Weirdly, the message keeps disappearing and reappearing from my iPhone. Never seen anything like that happen before.0 -

I previously held a Co-Op account which I shut 2-3 years ago. I went to register for online banking using the new account details from the letter I received yesterday, and it said I was already registered for online banking. However, I was then able to log in using my old username/password and I can see my new account.

Clicked on the Mse link but the co-op website says the cut off date for opening a new account was 19th Jan which is a shame. Very short lived offer!0

My account is open and card arrived today, so started to go through the steps to get the incentive.
Deposited £1050. Opened a savings account.
Then sent £1000 back to my main account which never arrived. It's supposed to be using faster payments, so sent 1p to the exact same recipient to test and it arrived straight away.
Contacted my main bank who say they can't see anything.
Will contact Coop tomorrow.0 -
I done a switch at around 2 today and there was nothing about the offer ended on 19/01 on there website.
There was nothing at all. It looks they have updated the website later.
I wouldn't have switched if the end date was there.0 -

From memory Coop faster payments aren't normally instant, I recall them usually taking a few hours to arrive. Otherwise it could also be a security thing where they've blocked the larger payment - this is fairly standard thing for new accounts when you've only recently set up a payee and are trying to pay the money in and out in quick succession.

The text you refer to has been on the Co-Op website since yesterday lunchtime-ish (I don't believe MSE has updated their website yet). As long as you applied for the account before COB yesterday, then you have until 16 Feb to actually get the switch sorted.

@Organgrinder I think you might be overly keen, and could fall foul of the offer terms. The £1,000 needs to be deposited in the 30 days following the switch completion date. If I were you, I'd repeat the deposit once my switch completed. Don't forget the 5 debit card payments, either.Organgrinder said:My account is open and card arrived today, so started to go through the steps to get the incentive.

Your £1,000 payment back to where it came from is with 100% certainty being held up by the COOP fraud department. They might release it without talking to you, but then again, they might not.
