Co Op Switch offer (seen 15th January 2024)

I've just had my confirmation email that they've approved my application. I applied yesterday at around 3pm I think 

I've archived their website in case they later try and argue that you needed to initiate a switch by COB today, as this currently isn't specified in the pdf offer terms. Here in case anyone needs it:

It's no surprise that Co-op has been flooded with switch requests and thus pulled the offer early on.

When you stop and consider how long it is since the bank offered a normal switch in bonus, there must have been loads of serial switchers who've exhausted all the other banks offerings just waiting in the wings for something new to jump on (and to dump the awful Barclays accounts)...

The full T&Cs state:

5. This Offer is only available for applications to switch a main current account to us using the full Current Account Switch Service received from between 15/01/2024 until the date we notify or publicise as that date upon which this Offer will expire (“the Offer Period”).

6. You will not be eligible for, or qualify for this Offer after the expiry of the Offer Period unless your application to switch your main account to your Co-operative Bank current account was received prior to the expiry of the Offer Period.

So how does this square with the website now saying we have until 16th Feb to REQUEST the switch? Currently on the phone to try to check but wait time in XS of 30 minutes .....

So potentially a major conflict there for people opening new Co-op current accounts between those conditions and the ones immediately below the headline:

If you’re applying for a new account, you’ll also need to request your full current account switch by 16 February 2024.

Yesterday it was taking over 30 minutes to speak to someone on their CS number. I imagine it will be hours today.

Exactly the point - there is now a conflict between the information displayed on their website and the full T&Cs of their offer, hence why I saved a copy of their website. I wanted to get a safeguard for people who might have applied for an account but may not have applied for a switch before the offer gets withdrawn later today. Their website says in that instance you are okay, but the terms do not.

Given Co-Op's track record during the last switch, I want to arm people with as much ammo as possible in case it needs to be disputed down the line.

I guess they could argue that the website is just badly worded and that

quote: 

'If you’re applying for a new account, you’ll also need to request your full current account switch by 16 February 2024.'

needs to be interpreted as;

'If you’re applying for a new account, (and to switch in an account) you’ll also need to request your full current account switch (is completed) by 16 February 2024.

 ..... but that doesn't tie in with the orginal '6 weeks from application' to complete the switch either ....

Well, if this helps anyone  - as definitive as anything ever gets from a CS representative - if the account is in APPLICATION stage at COB today, you have until 16th Feb to initiate the switch i.e. to request the switch and for it to start on that day (you can't request a switch start date into the future.....). For accounts already open,apparently the original Ts and Cs apply !!! 

(A bit discriminatory .....) 

He went off and double checked with his team leader .... 

Got his name and date and time of call for the inevitable argument later ......
