Valli said:very proud of myself as I swam 24 lengths, and at least 10 of them were consecutive (no breaks). I’m still the slowest swimmer at outswim cancer but i am much faster than i was. Also, when i get out of the water, my legs don’t feel like they are made of lead.
It was cold at work today, even though the heating was on.
Wow, that's brilliant. You are right to be proud of yourself.9 -
WI accounts up to date - just need to do the year end in the next few weeks, get them signed off & sent to be audited. Last year's weren't done until August so it is definitely looking better this year so far!
Committee meeting attended. As treasurer I floated the idea of reigning in the spending this year! 😂 Well, it is my job after all!
Food shop done for the week. Very rough meal plan done. I have a busy week! DS has a new GF. This means that we don't know when he is here, and if he is here whether it is just him or both of them or whether they are eating with us or not 🤷♀️ Not good for planning purposes! We have only met her twice - she seems sweet 😊
I have my mum's cousin's funeral on Thursday pm (taking mum), meal out Friday, and theatre with DH in the west end on Saturday! Slinky is not looking good this week 😂
Sleep well peeps 😴8 -
Morning all
Welcome back GI!!! xx
Well done Valli that is fabulous xx
CoG - I am delighted you got the gift card through. Well done you xx
Bitingly cold here and heavy snow forecast for mid morning. The fire is already roaring away and I have brought a cuppa back to bed. First job today is to telephone the council to arrange for a refund of £125 to be paid back to me, thank you very much!
I need to carry on chopping pallets, get on with some paid stuff and hoover round again. Puppy (well he’s 18 months now but we can’t stop referring to him as the puppy!) leaves hair everywhere, and there are always little bits of straw hiding where I least expect them. Often in my hair too!I have some double cream to use up so I will make butter with that too.I hope you all have a great day, stay warm and don’t venture out unless necessary in this frozen wonderland xx11 -
Morning all
Cold out there but no snow yet and it's too dry to be very icy, if that makes sense.
Peppermint tea made then quick yoga session shower brekkie and into the office.
Feeling quite calm this morning, I will fly later.
Have a good day, I have sticks and spoons as needed x9 -
well…my post would have started like YL’s but as i sat here in my vertical half hour i saw a few flakes and there’s now a light dusting with car tracks on the road…and it wasn’t forecast! The clouds are patchy though and i can see blue sky. Another day when I will be pleased I retired from teaching…kid get beyond excited when they see snow!
WM x 1 but that will have to wait to be pegged out.
Might clean the kitchen… might knit. Decisions decisions.
ETA double checked weather forecast. 0% chance of precipitation. Right. *rubs eyes*…nope…still snowing.
Hope all have good days xDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Morning all. No white stuff here but it is cold 🥶
Today I have an exercise class and dentist appointment booked but apart from those the day is mine to do as I please so I have checked admin and banking, watered indoor plants and have done five rows of knitting. Breakfast now. I will report back with any flying achieved.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.8 -
Morning all,
Tad on the cold side here on the south western hills, but, like YL, it was too dry to be frosty in our particular patch, anyway.
Well done, Valli, that is such an achievement re the swimming.
Right behind, YL. We both know that it’s only work, but somehow those hours dominate the rest of our lives, our thinking. Here if you need an inbox.
So, the wm is on. I have a list, but I am playing Procrastinator Extraordinaire. My second favourite game only to freezer tetris. I’m doing pretty well so far at procrastinating - porridge being had, list is in another room, the marmalade orange mountain is out of sight. I need to clean the bathroom, change the bed, wash my hair, clear some paperwork, all as a minimum. My friend is due in an hour or so, so no point in starting now, right? Ok, so writing that down helps, and the guilt has set in 🥱.
Have a lovely day all, keep warm (especially ASB and YL). I’ll be back later x7 -
I too am a martyr to athletes foot Valli and discovered something really interesting that works for me while I was hiking. If I wipe my feet over with surgical spirit a couple of times a day, concentrating particularly on the toes, it seems to fend off a threatened attack, but I don't think it would work once it's well and truly established.Yesterday was busy but worthwhile. New lodger is in, seems very easy to get along with, and because she's on the technical side will be working very long hours so we'll hardly see her. She's here for four weeks so we will get to know her over that time and bless her, she's paid up front for all four weeks.Emptied one of the rotating composters and spread half of it on the bed at the bottom of the garden which has bulbs poking their way out of the soil so they're reburied. Vacuumed the stairs that didn't get done on Sunday as the cordless thingy battery is showing its age and conking out after less than 10 minutes which I don't mind but it does mean I have to think about little and often rather than blitzing things and that's not playing to my strengths.Laundry shuffling still carrying on. It's been continuous since the rain stopped but I shall be glad when this lot is finally finished off in the house and put away as it's been continuous for well over a week and I'm tired of it.I'm told there's a GP who has volunteered to learn about the work I do at the Foodbank, so that'll be interesting when I meet them on Friday for training.Better is good enough.7

morning,HB ~ i agree with the surgical spirit tip for althetes feet. It helps them to stay dry and then there is less moisture for the fungal infection to work with! Lamisil cream is also the one I recommend if a cream is needed.Right Im off to take DD to her lesson in 20 mintues, so Im going to make a listTidy up kitchen, ✅/ wash up ✅kitchen downstairs looput washing awayput shopping bags back in car✅Stay warm folks it s jolly cold today xx♥️ ♥️ ♥️🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸Decluttering 2025 So far 403 / 2025

Twinkle is off school, she has barely any voice, a raging temperature, lots of snot and a sore throat.. and no socks apparently.. she has been sat playing with stickle bricks for over an hour!
Cream squished on the spare cats head.. it is looking much better today.. not well enough he can be released back into the wild, it is still the size of a penny.. it was a hole 10p sized and really deep.. so it is improving!
email sent to request copy of my blood test results from last friday.
Girls dropped at school.. Dot has her toot lesson today..
Car tax sorted again so we are no longer driving illegally.. I have some stuff to fling/sell/donate which I really need to get on with.
