Asparklierblonde said:Piggers I desperately wish we could have FSM for primary children country wide for all of the year groups. I just cannot afford the £3 a day school charges for a hot lunch, but I particularly dislike sending him with packed lunches in winter time. I sent pesto pasta in a flask once and didn’t realise it wasn’t allowed for H&S reasons.
I'd still send the pasta.. what is it going to do, jump out and bite someone? Twinkle has taken spaghetti and meatballs.. she has taken ketchup in a little tub to dip mini sausages into. She doesn't eat bread so sandwiches are out. She has a boiled egg every day too. Pixie has taken ritz crackers with cucumber slices, cheese and ham bits to build her own toppings .. same as the lunchables but cheaper!.. I don't think they should be allowed 10 biscuits, a mars bar and fizzy pop but if it is perfectly healthy stuff I would tell school to do one.. and have.. more than once.. They got their knickers in a knot about Dot's chocolate spread sandwich... blabbing on about nuts and crap so I threw a whole load of research at them about how by claiming to not permit one potential allergen they increased the risk of anaphylactic reactions in every other child with an allergy (Such as my grandson with an egg allergy and Twinkles friend with a milk allergy) and exposure to gluten for coeliac children.. It is proven children are safer if they have a separate table or 2 for children with allergies so the staff can keep a closer eye and avoid reactions. There isn't a child in the school with a serious nut allergy but there are 5 with dairy/egg anaphylactic allergies. I cannot abide misinformation especially when it puts others at risk.
Ours are free in KS1 and for a few years it was KS2 as well.. we had a LD council and the first thing the labour council did was stop the FSM for ALL the children.. The childrens school have new food suppliers and the meals are not as nice as they used to be either. they used to be lovely. actual food and worth the money.. they children all complain about the quality now. It is cooked on site still but it is processed meat rather than fresh and frozen veg rather than fresh and it just isn't the same which is a shame. The meals were one of the reasons we chose the school in the first place. I think meals should be free for all of them at school.. it must be cheaper to provide them with a meal, know they are fed and have them work well throughout the afternoon.. The MP's get theirs paid when they are all perfect able to pay for their own lunch.. that budget alone would probably feed every child at school!
Anyway..
both WM's are on.
i need to sort some floor in the front room because DD1 is bringing the small 2 to dump on me for a couple of hours. I have many cables for Beanie to eat.

Slinks in and wonders if I can finally get a grip on my cleaning. I am determined that this is the year I can start to make a difference. I was searching for the Flylady thread last week, couldn't find it but started reading one from 2006...... and there was a posting I put on about trying to get myself organised. Sigh. 18 years later and it's still messy.....However, I've now retired, moved house, done a major refurb on house and garden (which still needs planting but the hard landscaping is done), there's only 2 of us and a cat. How hard can it really be to keep it under control?OH is usually out of the house on Mondays so a good opportunity to blitz. I've started with the shower room he uses on Mondays as he's up at 4.30 and doesn't wake me usually if he's in that shower. It's not had a good going over for (cough, cough, ) weeks. I'm going back in to carry on. Wish me luck........Make £2025 in 2025

Welcome, Slinky
Welcome back, GI
Well done on the scales, Round!
Beautiful sunshine and a dusting of snow here.
No photo sorting but...
- got up, ate breakfast, showered and dressed
- S&S'd kitchen and bathroom
- made my bed
- did some necessary photocopying
- reminded DH to ring his sister (he tried, but she is obviously out and about, which he still isn't)
- cancelled the autorenewal for my internet security via Customer Services, because I couldn't find out how to do it myself online; CS lived up to their name, promised a confirmatory email within 24 hours, and that email has already arrived
- phoned my computer man to rearrange date for new internet security program to be installed, so that it falls in February rather than this month
- eaten an early lunch (well, pate on a slice of sourdough)
- off out now to Action Heart and then to visit my friend for a cuppa... and hoping she'll offer me cake!!!Rosie is going out with the dog walker and her pack today.
Must remember to put ice melt down on the drive before it turns into a skating rink.
Catch up later. Keep warm and take care, everyone xxx

Thanks Iona & Round 😁
I am up, showered & hair washed, dressed & breakfasted (dippy egg in the AF - who knew?! 😂). I have also put WM on, emptied the DW, sloshed stuff down the upstairs toilet & scrubbed the shower. Oh, and checked bank accounts/emails and done my to do list.
I have WI committee meeting tonight, so I might try and update the accounts in readiness. I also need to pay a couple of expenses (I forgot until I started typing this! Whoops!) I will also go and scrub the upstairs toilet & sink and put on the TD.
Boiler service booked in for tomorrow. He is also going to fit some new kitchen taps, so I need to look online to see what we want!
Back in a while.....8 -
Morning all, in again this week. Hopefully a quieter one! DD1 not at work this week, striking. Son in law back, he was away all last week. If the snow stays away, the DGC will all be at school. All primary age children get free meals here in Wales. And free breakfast club too, at there school. Barely need to feed them at all.
When i saw your post, @Asparklierblonde i thought you were going to be ploughing fields, as if you dont have enough to do, dyslexic brain. Sounds a busy week for many.
Today i will, clean the other window in the front room and clear the cill, did one last week. Sort and put away the underware mountain in our room. Try to get the sewing machine working and patch OH's jacket, job that's been needed doing for several years! Cook chops for tea. Reload the DW. Enough to be getting on with for now.
Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxx

I've also emptied the hoover and put it away. Again, my bedroom floor isn't perfect, but it's better than it was.
For someone who planned to MAD downstairs whilst on Annual Leave, upstairs is looking good 🤣🤣
Round 3
Lunch
Dispose of landline phone
Put new batteries in scales
Recycle batteries
Oh and I've picked up and put more of the shed roof felt in the bin. Just one big piece left now.

Nearly finished the shower room, just waiting on some bits to dry off then I can clean the basin and put cleaning materials away. I've swept the floors in the shower room, lobby, kitchen and dining room, vacuumed everywhere else apart from stairs (which I hate) and lounge (didn't want to disturb the cat). Thinned out a couple of hot spots in the kitchen. Have put away some laundry, done some filing, an online yoga class and now sitting with cat on lap and cup of tea.

I asked for recommendations on FB for someone to refelt the shed roof, and NN said he'll do it for me one weekend if I get the felt and nails. Researched how much felt I needed. Ordered roofing felt and nails from the big river site.
That wind is bitterly cold. Don't suppose that it helps that I keep nipping to the bin in my t shirt....and getting sidetracked by roofing felt detritus 🥶 All gone now.
