Thanks KK, it is the sheer volume of stuff.

MrT has fresh coconut at 50p. I only buy in store- looking for the longest date and one that clearly has liquid in when you shake it - reduces the chances of getting one that is off. Me Redo drills a few holes and drains the liquid into a glass, then taps a crack line with a hammer. Once it split I roast it for 20
minutes in a normal oven. Shrinks from the shell and makes it easier to slice etc. really filling if you are in a diet.

I feel the same with my garden, I don’t know where to start. One of my friends has a tiny garden and it’s so tidy, all her plants are in pots. Mine is like a huge jungle!

I do feel better knowing it isn't just me. Part of me secretly also wants a tiny garden when £20 on plants has an impact. I did fritter a few pounds on some impact annuals for the drive and patio actually.

There has been a long running discussion that someone needs to do flylady for the garden.  Instead of shine your sink, remove a bucket of weed seedling every day, etc. there are surprisingly few 'rejuvenate a garden' books.

there was a good price drop on the m4ry b8rry chef mixer so that arrived today. I can bake bread again hurrah.  Had to make a cake to test it out obviously, so much contented munching of a cinnamon nut crumble topped sponge from the MB fast cakes book that came with the machine. Need to buy the £10 adaptor to make the mincer/sausage machine fit but the old bowl and tools are compatible. Must not make any more cakes.

Yes the flylady gardening is a fab idea. I'm more likely to do something if I have instructions or a to do list. I bought a book a while ago called The Five Minute Garden by Laetitia Maklouf which is a month by month list of things to do, it's quite light-hearted.

Thanks everyone, I am thinking about if and how it could work.

I would suggest a list for this weekend of:

    1. Spend at least 15 minutes removing weeds before they set seed. If you haven't got any then feel free to be smug and have a glass of wine instead.

    2. think about what you want from your garden, what you use it for and what the barriers are to that.  Somewhere to sit?somewhere that smells nice? Somewhere that looks tidy?  Do you have a budget, if not what do you need to compromise on or womble? Can you pick anything up from free cycle, or local people giving away excess seedlings, or cheap end of season seeds. Can you spend 15 minutes progressing towards that aim?

    3. do you have seedlings or young plants that need gardening off before the big move outdoors? Time to get this going if you haven't already.

    4. Have you got any plants hanging round in pots that really need to be planted out? Make a space and get them in and watered.

Feed back on what you have done - love before and after photos.

is that the kind of thing we have in mind?
