Thanks SA, will look for that.
f0xh0les - its glorious sunshine here too, busy potting things up on the patio. Happy Equinox to you to. I will be toasting the stars for Mr Redo tonight.
cashlink - that is great to know, thanks for delurking
This morning I went swimming, all by myself, for the first time in many years. The usual challenge of not liking new places, new people and the compounded layer of blind without my glasses but it was ok. I managed a whole 20 lengths which I was delighted with and did not hate every minute. I hope to make this a weekly thing, although I booked a 50 plus session and was mildly offended that they didn't ask for ID. The slow section was indeed full of ladies that lunch in full make up and dry hair, having a nice chat before bobbing up and down for a length or two.
I took Doglet out for a nice lunch time stroll in the sunshine, and listened to Alan T talking about April which made me want to get on with some garden stuff despite sore shoulders so I have been potting up bulbs in the sunshine, listening to the birds singing and spotting more signs of spring. My mature Magnolia Heaven Scent tree is starting to have patches of bright pink on a few of the buds in response to this burst of sunshine, and various things are smelling rather lovely (honeysuckle, daphnes, viburnum, skimmia I think). Not the paperwhite daffodils which are pretty but just horrid smelling. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I love your description of the swimming! The reason you didn't get asked for ID is that you are a competent, confident lady and no one would dream of questioning you.
Spring has definitely sprung here. It's lovely.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I have made the most of the sunshine as well Cherry, shattered now. I can't even go to bed early as it is bell ringing practice night.
debtfreewannabe321 Sadly decent sized trees are £50 plus. I think I had my two for my birthday not long after we moved here - so maybe 15 years old now. Lidl had some very small potted magnolias this morning, c£8 from memory, and both they and Aldi tend to have larger ones later in the year. Th0mpson & M0rgan and Sutt0ns on the other hand both have two bare rooted ones for £20 (under special offers on their home page) plus £7 postage. These are about four foot high so still very young trees, but some nice options for smaller ones that wouldn't dominate your garden. I really like the look of Magnolia denudata 'Sunrise Beauty' which is a 6 foot at maturity rather than a big tree. Mine was delivered today and is currently in a bucket ready to go in my giant patio pots. I was quite cross that a link from Fbk for £7 one a pop on sutt0ns gets over ridden by the 2 for £20 offer if you order more than one. However I then found a code that used their pre-offer value and then took the money off the offer price so I got four bare root magnolias for £27 delivered. They do have a limited season of interest, and they prefer mildly acidic soil. For me I have room to plant them here if I stay, and if I move they will have grown on a bit so a good investment either way if I can keep them alive.
Before the new trees arrived I potted up all of the bare root stuff and a lot of bulbs rather than leave it all sweating in packets. Still have bulbs to plant, and now todays trees as well. oh, and Asdar had three climbers for £5 yesterday so three nice clematis came home with me. They also had a few honeysuckles, and passion flower if anyone else is looking. Plants appear to have become my new jumpers for 'can't resist', 'just one more'.
Another win today was that actually MrT cauliflower rice is ok. I would far rather have a nice oven bakedMy mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I have a magnolia about to flower, but it came with the house, so I have no clue what kind it is. And I've planted three others since I've been here - one of which may not make it as it was eaten by some kind of bug last year.5
