  • How lovely you’ve joined the local friendship group. I joined a local one back in the pandemic days and we had one meet up which was lovely then it seemed to disappear 🙁
That's the trouble isn't it with these things if people don't use them them they disappear. I joined a meet up  group for people with chronic illness years ago and it only lasted a few months before people stopped going. It was a bit illness focused though and would have been better if it had been a group of people meeting for coffee and a chat but it rapidly turned into a competition over who had the most problems so I think people just got fed up with it. This is just a general meet up that looks like it's been going for a few months now so hopefully it will still be going when I can actually go
Some of these groups are like some of the FB groups aren't they? I joined a FB group several years ago when I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis. I didn't want to take the drugs the GP offered me, and thought I might find some tips on the group as it was supposed to be for people who were wanting to follow the more natural route.  Well...what can I say?  I am not on the group anymore!  It was just full of people saying "Please pray for me, my bones are falling apart" or, "please pray for me I don't want to die"...it was awful, and heaven forbid if you had an opinion of your own and didn't follow the herd..  Only good thing that came out of it, was I met a lovely lady who thinks so much like me about it all and we have now become best friends.
I know what you mean. I joined several Fibromyalgia support groups that claimed to promote a positive way of living with it but they were awful . When I told people I still worked full time back then they told me I couldn't have Fibro because I wouldn't be able to work. I told them I had no choice and when it's a case of losing your home or working through the pain you just get on and do it. They also didn't like anyone telling them it was a somatic illness. I left because they were making me depressed

I am now into November 2018 of your diary and am furious on your behalf of the selfish rota person 😡 how very dare they take the Sundays and leave you with the miserable Mondays!!!!!
I love reading too and use Kindle unlimited- I have found some brilliant writers and some truly awful ones 🤣
I swapped the winter duvet for the thinner duvet as I have been very warm lately. Of course I’m now cold…..
You now need to discover the podcast The Secret World of Slimming Clubs. I have been blamed for introducing OBL to this podcast and making her laugh out loud on the bus 🤣
I really need to get back to listening  to it as well. I stopped listening to podcasts last year for some reason but I tried one this morning and it was quite nice on my way to work

Did you ever listen to Secret Boyfriend ? It was so funny,I was going to re listen to all the episodes but it's not there any more

    Why is it funny?
  • I had an odd and frustrating day at work today . It was very quiet on the ward so I decided to do my e learning, then  I discovered my computer log in wasn't working for my emails or the service we use to get our rotas. I managed to log into the e learning portal so was able to complete my out of date training and my PDR  but couldn't check the next lot of shifts or book any annual leave. It literally took most of my shift to reset it all.
Then I logged into the roster thing we use and everything has been wiped off. I don't have any shifts and the shifts I've done since I've been back have disappeared. I can't book any annual leave as it looks like I have left 😳 it was working fine when I came back from my retirement so I don't know what is going on. I managed to get back into my email so I contacted the woman who does our off duty to see if she can sort it out.  Last time I tried to book annual leave a couple of weeks ago it wouldn't let me because it said I only had 4 hours for the whole of 2024 so she has amended that to the correct amount and now I'm not even on there. I had better get paid tomorrow or I'm not going to be happy.

I called in at my surgery on the way home and sorted out my prescription so hopefully that will be at the chemist by the end of the week.

Im off tomorrow so I'm going to see my Mum and Dad. My niece is taking my Mum food shopping so I said I will sit with Dad while she is out. They normally leave him on his own which worries me but mum says he is fine and usually falls asleep but he shouldn't be left really.
I then have a few things to do in town before I come home

The podcasters are trying to lose weight but get sidetracked by life and all sorts of food related stuff. It’s so funny you need to listen to it to understand why. I listen to it when I’m walking to work and have laughed out loud in the street.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Yes I’m sure I’ve listened to that one, it rings a bell. The one with Nile the Pile is both 🤢 and hilarious 🤣 They still make me laugh out loud when I’m walking to work, people must think I’m a raving lunatic 😆

They are three people who talk about how they try to lose weight and funny things that go on at some slimming clubs like what outlandish excuse you've used this week for not losing weight. I think it's funny because those of us who are trying to lose weight and have been members of these clubs recognise a lot of the things they are talking about. They also come up with alternate diets to try that they've basically made up and that usually end badly.

  • I’ve completed the first 100 pages!!!! And you have started 2019 😊
So a little bit about me so you don’t think I’m dodgy 🤣🤣 I am a bit younger than you, live in SE Wales (I married a Welshman), have a grown up stepdaughter, no children of my own.
Have had dogs for the past 20 odd years, my very first dog was a Labrador cross border collie- a very forgiving dog as looking back I didn’t have a clue! My second was a black lab, quite aloof but very food orientated. I currently have an ESS and her son, a Sprocker. He is a right character, always in trouble but has a heart of gold.
I have some serious health issues (not going to bore you with those) incurable but manageable.
Um I work full time …… love my garden….that’s it really!
Oh and with dad having been in the RAF also lived in Devon for a while!

Well done on making it to 2019 😂
My DD1 and her husband have an ESS who is seriously cute, he is 7 now and is such a loving dog. He loves B but she isn't keen on him which is a shame, she doesn't like other dogs and used to attack any that came close apart from Dachshunds but I think she thinks these are cats 😂I don't think. B was socialised at all before I got her and it's taken me nearly ten years to train her out of it but I still don't trust her.
Where in Devon did you live ?
