The Diary Of Onebrokelady Aged 60 And A Half

A combination of being busy then being exhausted has meant I’ve not posted since last Wednesday 😳 where does the time go. I can’t remember what I’ve been up to either 😄 lots of reading, some cross stitch, some sleeping in the day time, seeing friends and walking the dog.
Mum went to see the residential homes but after seeing the residents decided she’s not ready for that yet so just wants help at home with housework, she asked me if I had any ideas so I went off and found the details of the service Age Uk offer but when I showed her she said my sister had already taken her to see them so the upshot it Ive ended up volunteering to do her housework because I suspect that’s what she wanted in the first place 🙄 so when I go up on a Tuesday she is going to have a list of jobs for me,she said it won’t be every week and if I don’t feel up to it to not do it. I just don’t know what she won’t get someone in to do it.
I went to DD2s on Saturday and we took B for a lovely walk round the country lanes and to feed the pigs 😀 they are so cute.
Monday I ended up going for a walk with B along the river to the quay as the sun was shining and it was lovely despite being quite windy
Tuesday was my day to visit mums so I had a coffee there then dusted and hoovered her bedrooms.
Today I went into town because I had a prescription to pick up and I bought myself a pair of wide leg cotton trousers and two t shirts. Then after tea because it isn’t getting dark until nearly 6pm I took B down for another river walk. It’s been sunny here for the last two days so I’ve needed to be outside. I did tidy a bit of my garden last week and it was lovely to get back out there again
I picked up another book from the little library and started reading it last night ( Bone China by Laura Purcell) it’s really good so far and I think I will finish it tonight, I do like her books🙂the other one I’ve read was The Silent Companions which was delightfully spooky. I’m now on book 10 of my 52 book challenge 🥳🍾🥳
I’m meeting my friend for coffee tomorrow and then meeting some of the other people I used to work with on Friday so it’s been a busy week.

I have started a diary after being inspired by yours. I am enjoying posting in it especially in the morning as I then feel accountable to do what I planned. I’m sure it’ll be more like a life journey that just about debt, but I guess I do need to include that too, as it is a focus. Hopefully I’ve added a link. I’ll look up your previous diary too. I really enjoyed reading this one, it was like I reading a book. There were times I needed to get home so that I could know how things turned out for you!

Tenderstem broccoli is very similar to purple sprouting (only greener!) and much nicer than broccoli. It's a bit more expensive but worth it. It was on offer at L!dl when I shopped yesterday, but that offer may have ended today.

I know you want to help your mum @Onebrokelady but please don't overdo it with the cleaning. Couldn't she pay for a bit of help? Love Humdinger xx

I can understand your mum not feeling ready fora home. Pace yourself when you’re helping her out,as I’m sure you will.
Your walk along the river sounds lovely. It’s good to see some sunshine 🌞

One suggestion that might ease your mum into assisted living is to suggest that she goes for a trial period when you are next on holiday, giving you peace of mind whilst you are away, and getting a real feel for how good the place is. I tried this with my mum and she enjoyed her "holidays" and also wasn't reluctant to transition to living there full time when it became necessary. I primed the manager about the plan and thought it was a good idea.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?4 -
Hope all is well with you.

I was thinking the other day that OBL hasn’t been around for a while. I hope everything is ok with her.
