!!!!!! I thought I’d posted before this 😀I’m losing my marbles.I have been busy to be fair and when I haven’t been busy I’ve been asleep 💤
The big news is that on the 21st of January I was officially retired 🍾🥳🍾🥳I had a teams meeting with my boss, her boss and the hr lady and after a twenty minute chat which included showing them the dog it was done and dusted, obviously I have been off for nearly a year so it doesn’t really feel much different to me but it’s nice not being off sick now.
The next big news is that I got a letter yesterday saying my application for ill health early retirement has been accepted and I have been awarded tier 2 so will get the higher payment. The letter states that the decision was made purely on my diagnosis of pulmonary fibrosis and that she didn’t need to take my other conditions into account. The medical examiner has now sent a letter to the pensions officer at work so I should hear within the next few weeks how much it will be and when the payments will start. I’m hoping it will be quite soon because on February the 27th I will be paid money that work owes me which will effect my ESA payments so I won’t benefit from it at all but if the pension come through and I’m not on ESA when I get my final payment it won’t matter, I suspect it will take longer than that though as they do like to take their time and I’m never that lucky. Universal credit contacted me last week to say they overpaid me so I have to pay back £133 this week, it’s because they paid me at the same time that I received ESA and I’m not entitled to both which is fair enough. I was a bit gutted because I was going to save my council tax payment this month into my savings but I will now have to use it to pay the UC back ☹️.
I had a phone appointment with my GP on Tuesday because some recent blood tests were a bit wonky so I now have to have blood tests every two months to keep an eye on thing, she suspects it’s because of the fibrosis.Tomorrow I have a Rheumatologist appointment to review how I am and make a decision on my steroids. I have been struggling with painful joints for a few weeks now and recently thought I had cricked my neck but two weeks later it’s still not right and I can only move my head very slowly, I also don’t have full range of movement so I don’t know what’s going on there, I’m hoping they will check it out tomorrow 🤞🤞 the hospital where I’ve got to go is not the one I worked at it’s on the outskirts of the city so not easy for me to get to,I’m going to walk down to the train station and get a taxi from the taxi rank so I can make sure I get there on time. I have previously booked a taxi from a local firm and they didn’t turn up so I missed the appointment 😡
I’m also looking at sending off my medical info to PRA GROUP who have my debts to see if I can get them written off, I couldn’t do it before because I had no evidence but I’ve got a letter from my consultant now which should be enough info, I might not work but you don’t know if you don’t ask do you.
The only other thing going on is that I went to see my mum this week and my sister had been down to stay and while she was here she suggested that mum go and live with her but mum won’t go because she won’t leave me here on my own ( even though I’ve got two daughters, a half sister and friends) so my sister ( who doesn’t speak to me ) suggested she move in with me 😳 first of all my house is completely unsuitable for a 93 year old woman with mobility problems, she has a wet room but I have a shower over a bath, there are 18 steps up to my house so mum would be stuck in the house then there there elephant in the room which is my illness. My sister knows I’m ill but she doesn’t know what’s wrong with me, I did write it down so mum could tell her but she either hasn’t told her or my sister thinks I’m exaggerating
Ive sat down tonight and written a very polite letter explaining my situation and why I haven’t stepped up to look after mum as I can’t contact her in any other way and she needs to know I’m not able to step up like she thinks I should. My sister has a low opinion of me so probably thinks I’m just being awkward and I can’t have her making suggestions like that because then have to come up with excuses as to why that is not possible. Mum has expressed an interest in looking at residential homes so I’ve suggested they investigate that if she can’t or doesn’t want to stay at home. I will be posting the letter tomorrow, she might see it’s from me and not even read it but I can’t do anything about that. I’ve told her I don’t want mum to know how ill I am so hopefully she won’t tell her, it would be cruel if she did and she can deal with the consequences if that happens.I think that’s me all caught up and I will try not to leave it so long next time

Congratulations on your retirement! And I really hope the higher payment gets sorted quickly for you.
Your Mum saying she doesn't want to leave you on your own is really her saying she wants to be near you! You're taking a wise course with your sister and it must be difficult, but there's only so much you can do.

Congratulations on your retirement!
Hope your sister takes notice of your letter."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -
Feel for you as my sister-in-law and to a certain extent, my brother, tried to get me to take my father in when not only did I live in a town house with many many stairs, but the property was about to be re-possessed, as they very well knew.Talk about add yet another problem to the mix! Fortunately my father refused to move anyway and didn’t know my story.

Great news about the official retirement 🥳
I’m glad you’re putting your foot down about your mum moving in with you. You can’t look after her with all your own health problems. Hopefully your sister will take note.
