Thanks SA 🙂I wasn’t going to get another dog after B died especially after getting my diagnosis but as time went on I really missed having a dog in the house and my plan on retirement had been to get a puppy originally but that went out the window when I got ill and I gave up on the idea. DD2 and my sister kept on at me to adopt an older dog but I couldn’t find a suitable dog in the UK then DDs manager told her about the charity she was adopting through so I checked it out and section ahead. He was very timid when he first got here and is nervous of traffic but he’s getting better all the time and I’m so impressed how he’s taken to living in a house having come from the streets, he’s made himself right at home 😂Sun_Addict said:That’s brilliant news you have a little dog to keep you company 😍 A neighbour got a Romanian rescue last year, he was so timid at first and cowered every time a car passed. He’s come on in leaps and bounds and it’s lovely to see him trotting along confidently now.I hope this year is a much better one for you.Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,756 Owed = £10,8745 -
Thanks he is lovely, everyone has fallen in love with him 😀 I might only have him a few years but at least he will have a happy retirement full of warmth, food and doggy treats 😀Seasidegal58 said:Your dog sounds lovely! My DD has some friends who have had Romanian dogs. One set of friends like you had two older dogs. They've both passed on now but at least they experienced love and comfort in their old age. Her other friend's dog is younger but such a dear affectionate little thing.Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,756 Owed = £10,8746 -
He does sound lovely, and I'm sure you will be good for each other.
In fact, if ever I get a dog, I'd be looking for one with brains though I don't think I'm experienced enough to take on one who might need extra help. I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Sometimes getting a dog with brains is a curse because they will run rings round you 😀Cherryfudge said:He does sound lovely, and I'm sure you will be good for each other.

Ahhh she sounds lovely , mines got a loud bark if he uses it but he doesn’t bark very often, he only weighs 11.6kgs so is on the smaller side 😀dawnybabes said:I’ve a Rumanian rescue, her mum was on the streets but she was brought into a shelter just before she had the puppies. Im determined not to forget my diary so a quick update.
I’ve just been out with B for a nice walk but we had to wait for the ice to defrost 🥶🥶it’s mostly ok apart from a small stretch of pavement right outside my house which is in a dip so doesn’t get any sun, that won’t defrost until summer now 😂😂 the walk was lovely and thankfully B stopped to sniff lots of things because I find it harder to breathe when it’s this cold so have to take my time.I spent yesterday at home because it was solid ice all day and I’m not risking falling, B had to make do with toilet in the garden but I did do some training with him to stop him getting bored , his recall is getting better but I won’t trust him for a long time yet.
I also sorted out his pet insurance yesterday, changed his chip registration on pet log and ordered him an ID tag so I think that’s all his admin stuff sorted, I’ve registered him with the vet and I’m going to take him soon to get flea and worm treatment, I’m going to sign up for their monthly plan for vaccines and flea/ worm treatment so I know it’s paid for in advance.
I have not made any resolutions this year as I don’t find they work and I normally just pick a word for the year to try and abide by but I failed miserably last year, this year I’m trying again and I’ve picked creativity because I want to spend more time on my hobbies and crafts 🙂 I’m still trying to finish my Christmas cross stitch and I’ve now started building my Book Nook, this actually could be done in a day I reckon but I’m trying not to rush it, I made a grandfather clock and five books yesterday and I’ve got six more books to make, I need good light though as it’s small and fiddly.
I also updated my signature today as I’m still paying my debts off at £1 each a month, I might be able to increase this once my pension is sorted ( if they let me have it ) but will just have to wait and see.
I had an appointment with occy health on the 17th of December and the doctor has finally told my boss I’m unfit for work 🍾🥳🍾🥳 so she phoned me last week and is now going to arrange the meeting where they will terminate my contract. I’ve asked to do it over teams but I’m sure the HR lady said it has to be in person so my boss is going to find out. There will be my immediate Matron plus the band 8 clinical nurse manager and the lady from HR , if I can’t do it via teams I’m going to ask if we can meet up in the education building so I don’t have to go into the hospital which is full of Flu, Covid and RSV. It means I won’t have a retirement leaving do but I don’t really want one to be honest, only a couple of people from work have kept in touch, I haven’t heard from anyone else. So I will be officially retired very soon .Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,756 Owed = £10,8747 -
