Aww I’m so sorry.  We had our last dog pts at home and it was so much better as ddog wasn’t stressed out by the vets and we could take our time.

A good cry can be so cathartic and much needed.

we lost our dcat 6 months ago and we are just now looking for a pair of kittens.  We’ve a dog but the house needs cuddly cats too.
Yes it’s so much better at home, he hated going to the vets so would have been very stressed out, this way he was fast asleep when she arrived so she gave him an anasthetic to render him unconscious then once he was properly under she gave him the drug to stop his heart. Dd was able to cuddle him in her arms until he went 😟

I’m not sure I will have any more pets due to my health and finances so will have to wait and see how it goes

Oh that is just such a sad thing to do, @Onebrokelady - It doesn't matter how long I'm a cat owner, I just never find saying goodbye to them gets any easier. It does sound as though having a vet come to do the deed at home is a lot more peaceful. I've felt with all our past cats that it's such a shame their final journey is to the one place they absolutely hate going & find stressful. I think I will consider having it done at home next time it becomes necessary. Yes, you have had a rotten year for sure & I'm sending my sympathies.
    Take care now,
    F x
It’s really hard isn’t it 😟 it’s so much better at home if you can get it done that way. I’m hoping for a bit/of respite from the heartbreak for while 🤞

I'm so sorry, though I know that will have been the kindest choice for him. I remember my mum saying how good the vet was who came when one of her cats had to be pts. The whole experience reduced the stress on the cat such a lot and was so quick. But it's a big adjustment for you and your dd. Sending hugs.

Thank you cherry it will be a big adjustment for us both, the blow is softened for DD because she has the kitten to distract her and doesn’t live here where the cat was but it’s just been me and him for the year and a half so I will miss him a lot. He was my little shadow who followed me around everywhere

So sorry you had to say goodbye to your lovely cat. Even though you knew it was imminent it's still sad all the same. What a rotten time you're having at the moment, it just seems to be one thing after another for you. You're doing the right thing not saying anything to DD about your diagnosis until you know what's what. I really hope things start to take a turn for the better very soon. Take care x
Thanks SA I agree that even if you know it’s coming it’s still really sad. We had him at 12 weeks old and he would have been 20 this year so he’s been a constant for all that time. I am going to miss him terribly. Last year and the beginning of this haven’t been the best that’s for sure but I’m hoping for a bit of a calm period now for a little while at least. I’m not feeling massively ill so maybe we can get a break for a bit 🤞🤞

So sorry OBL. They're so much part of our lives and our family that the loss is felt so greatly. I hope you find some peace in the next few months.

That is so sad but better than seeing the cat suffer. It must be very strange and quiet after 20 year of catty cuddles.
Let’s hope that you have some quiet time now. Just think of the song ‘things can only get better’….now they know what condition you have they can put thing in place to help and I’m sure occupational health will help with your working situation 🤞👍
