Thanks all! He's on the meeting now....eek. my nerves are shot this week.
I am keeping busy writing the handover letter I always do for new owners.
On another note- the wind is absolutely howling here today blowing over from the fields, rain is on and off and it is COLD! I have put the heating on to take the chill off my empty houseis summer over- just as I packed my coat away for a few days (typical huh!)

My DD didn't quite get the English she was predicted but she has had so much going on this year what with a funeral starting the year off, grieving for her step mum and then a friend who un alived themselves around exam time....I am surprised she has done as well as she has. She was ecstatic with her maths and sciences (she did foundation papers ) as she was predicted a 3-3 and then a 3 on math, she got 5-4 and a 4...those were her worst subjects...all the rest of her exams were 6s and above so she's done well. And we aren't sure what the grades were for the school as i've lost the letter and she can't remember - we are hoping she's done enough on maths and science, they had already sent her all the forms and she's enrolled so I am thinking they will let her in. Otherwise I will go plead her case and see if she can do re-sits.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. DP & I had lunch out. We are both drained and decided to use some of the savings we hopefully won't need to use on solicitors fees now to treat ourselves. It was very much enjoyed and I will do us a small dinner later instead of a big one. I need to walk the dog today still it keeps raining every time I go to do it.
We are waiting on a call from the solicitors as to when exchange will be, he's had to pop out for a funeral ...the church is pretty much next to the pub for the wake, which is next to the solicitors so he will be back after.. he has promised to call then with an update. I just would like to know what's happening as my nerves are shot now this weekand I can't take any more surprises. I am still working my way through jobs from the other day that are outstanding. Finish tidying the areas where I have been packing, dusting cupboards, cleaning things....it's all becoming a little monotonous now.....

Well done to DD on her grades. I am sure the school will be happy to have her. Fingers crossed the solicitor doesnt leave it too much longer to call, and that DP has some good news.
Like you my nerves are on edge and I only have exams to deal with

Morning all,
I slept better last night, probably due to the couple of large G&Ts I had
Up bright and early and DP has been paid. I want to not touch this money if we can help it until the 1st.......but I need to shuffle it around to the right places. It's hard to predict what bills will be, we are closing some down- gas & elec so that will be a final bill, council tax will be a final one too as we move across to a different council even though it's only 13 miles up the road, and some are just moving across- water, internet, mobiles, etc. I am going to do my best to calculate what they will be but I had better be prepared for some being higher than usual (although i hope not as we actually move before the 1st which is when our full monthly bills are usually due out).
The first mortgage payment is £945. Then goes down to around £660. So this month I will save the difference between these figures- £285. I will put that into the bills account and leave it there so it is ready for the first mortgage payment in October. So October's budget will only need £660 to go towards that payment.
That way it wont be such a large blow on the budget...I would like to add some OPs in immediately but I think for now I will leave it as none just to see how it all settles down.
We've been charged for something £8.99- insurance for house buying or something similar, YNAB told us yesterday and we've only just figured out what it was. DP will try and cancel that later.
I am still waiting on the revised bill from the solicitors, we did have a call yesterday evening from him stating that would be done soon. He was also hoping for exchange to take place today. Our seller has had notice from their bank that mortgage funds would be released today. So we are hoping all these things are good news?
DP has had worries about his interview, he thinks he may have messed one question up. The job would be working directly for a company rather than what he does now (work for a 3rd party selling same thing) and he would effectively have to tell his current team where they are going wrong and how they need to change...as their boss. He said he answered truthfully- I am not sure yet....and now with some hindsight he has answers for this but a little too late. He seems to think it may jeopardize his chance of going to stage 2. He also thinks he spoke too much - I am not surprised by this he is a chatterbox. We will see, if it's meant to be, it will be.
Today's job is to try and finalise the budget, move money now so we are not trying to do it when we move and leaving it too late. I can't do anything with the money I pulled out of the HMF and into DP account yet because we haven't had our final bill and we don't know how much we need to keep out and how much we can put back into savings....if any.
Don't you love it when everything is up in the air!
Today's jobs:-- Pack media stuff for storage tomorrow.
- Walk dog in between these blustery showers we have had all morning
- Tidy our bedroom which has become a dumping ground for clothes and half packed boxes so that we can
- Take the bed down
- Finish taking apart the wardrobe which we left semi built but we now think it will be too heavy and awkward to get safely down the stairs in one piece without removing bannisters and hand rails.
- pop to the shops we are really low on food. I need some mushrooms, maybe a pepper, and some sort of pudding too.
- Gather all boxes that are going to storage place tomorrow as we have to be there quite early and it is the other side of the city to where we drive in from here so may take an hour from here.
We are moving all outside plants to new house on Sunday.
We are moving inside plants on Monday (DP will & I will stay behind to pack kitchen and clean).
I've promised kids a pizza on Monday evening - I best check it is open actually being a bank holiday- so can pack the kitchen up then.
I want to pop to the bank to get some cash out, also get some thank you cards from somewhere and we have chocolates to deliver on Tuesday before we leave - all going well and to plan that is.
Sounds easy right........
