I actually think that is an awful camp where the kids have rationed food, they should have helped prepare the food and wash up, but not rationed, I think That is appalling actually, I am pretty disgusted by it for the kids, it should not be like that. When I went to Brownies and girls guide camps we were set up to buy the food, prepare the food and wash up, all useful skills but never rationed...perhaps they are preparing for a war?1

I am glad I sent them in with £10 for tuck shop and also around a tenner's worth of snacks in their bags. She ate that to keep going. DS said they were averaging 40,000 steps a day on some activitieshe was impressed with it, DD not so much. She is not made for the forces or physical work......DS seemed to thrive on it all!
Oh and both my kids did scouts, beavers, cubs, brownies etc before this and I agree the camp there is very much about helping and doing the chores with the adults. This camp was focused more on leadership skills, mountain climbing, orienteering, archery etc etc and the evening was all about downtime really after they finished for the day.
In other news......I am on my 3rd wash already with at least 2 more to do🙄 My tumble drier is full, as are the tops of doors (with sleeping bags just rinsed through a quick wash) and next will be the radiators
We had a late lunch so no one is hungry yet, I think DD will be having a nice early night at least tonight at a reasonable time, she looks exhausted. DS is already having a nap I think! I have plenty of fruit & veg and healthy foods to feed them up with tomorrow before the takeaway in the evening. They will be grateful for my food offerings for once....I think I will send them away to camp more often!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Good morning MFWs, yesterday was scheduled (in my plan) to take the outdoor plants to new house and today the indoor ones. Well we started collecting the indoor ones and I had far more than I realised... probably going on 50+ 😲😂 DP messaged the current owner and asked when we could drop off (as pre-arranged) and he rang DP up and suggested he come over and help! I couldn't believe it! He had hired a van and was willing to come and fill up the van and take it back. So we did that and would you believe we ran out of space in it, it was a sprinter size too and I had to then fill the car on top of that 😂. We had already bought him a case of beer as a house warming present for his new house so we chucked that in the car and after emptying the van and car we gave it to him. He'd cleared the conservatory so we half filled it with plants (literally oops).
He is really a nice guy and I think is just a bit lonely ... because then he proceeded to take us on another house tour and we were there for ages! This was actually really helpful because the last time I went in was months ago and RM pictures weren't very helpful so I was unable to picture where to put all our furniture. Lots of spaces were empty and we could see the whole room..he was still working on packing the kitchen/ diner which is probably the worst bit of downstairs as the layout is awful (it was like this when he bought it and he didn't have a clue what to do with it either....it's why the house sat unsold for so long). I've got lots of ideas but they all require money 😂so for now I will just move in and try to make it work.
He'd cleaned every room after emptying it and I was really grateful 🙏as I felt that might be my first job when I got in there.
We chatted about the solicitors going home early and said we'd all be on the phone tomorrow together first thing so they can get it sorted. If it takes all day to release money then they need to be exchanging early on.
Today I need to find more boxes. Also get DD to pick up everything on her floor. I'm not sure if she does it just to upset me or if she is genuinely that messy but she was home from camp for half hour yesterday before spreading the contents of her case on every spare inch of her bedroom floor (bare in mind I cleaned and packed it there is a lot of floor space to fill)...I felt actually upset when I walked in last night and had to walk back out. After telling her how disrespectful I felt she was being....I'm cleaning the bathroom after everyone's showers this evening too. I emptied the kitchen contents out on to the sides yesterday so I could clean cupboards. So all that needs to be done tomorrow is pack, drop key off (+cards and chocolates) and a quick hoover. 😁🙏
I am actually exhausted. Like physically and mentally and just need a week to sleep....I'm so glad I started on all this earlier than the last move we did. Both DP and I keep saying, we need to make this next house work for us as we never want to do this again 😂🙈MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. £5 cashed out on surveys yesterday. I had a look on my YNAB and I've made about £80+ on surveys this month without even trying. Also £11 on cash back!
Can't wait to move to be able to use these payments towards MOP once again 😃MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Delurking to say best of luck for today/tomorrow! You've been so impressively organised with all the packing and sorting (I have been in awe of it) - you'll be thanking your past self for it tomorrow once you're in the house! I hope everything goes smoothly and with minimal stress0
