  • DP has had worries about his interview, he thinks he may have messed one question up. The job would be working directly for a company rather than what he does now (work for a 3rd party selling same thing) and he would effectively have to tell his current team where they are going wrong and how they need to change...as their boss. He said he answered truthfully- I am not sure yet....and now with some hindsight he has answers for this but a little too late. He seems to think it may jeopardize his chance of going to stage 2. He also thinks he spoke too much - I am not surprised by this he is a chatterbox. We will see, if it's meant to be, it will be.

He's had a call back! He impressed them so a sleepless night worrying for no reason. He is through to the second stage interview. There is actually two jobs being created very similar to one another so he thinks he may well get one if not the other as there is only 5 applicants overall for both jobs?! That seems crazy but I guess that's good news for him.

I am trying....I have rather vivid memories of moving here as it was only 2 years ago and it was one disaster after another  so this time we are trying to foresee problems/ jobs and come up with a plan to alleviate what is already a super stressful thing

Wow our fridge is pretty much bare. I think I had best grab a few things whilst in Mr T. I have found pudding for later in the fridge in the form of fruit salad (leftover bits)
I am going to cook a huge pot of spag bol today with lentils and mushrooms so I will grab peppers and one pack of spaghetti. That will do us Sunday when the kids are home and today when there is just 2 of us so I need 6 portions of that.
Tomorrow may well be just a JP again as we can leave it to cook whilst we are doing trips to storage and finishing packing bits up. So will need a topping for that.
    Monday just some lunch really.

    SO shopping list:
    2 peppers
    mushrooms
    1 pack spaghetti
    soup/ tinned spaghetti for lunches
    Bread
    crisps
    JPs
    Beans
    salad
    some fresh fruit
Also will have a look for a good offer on a bottle of cheap bubbly for the new owners- as much as they irritated me throughout this and caused me undue stress, it is their first foray into buying and they didn't know what was what with a lot of stuff and I would feel bad if I didn't leave one like I have for all my other house moves. I also need some thank you cards. And I think I will just take some cash out for the removals guys to hand them at the end for a drink on us for all their hard work (provided they turn up and do the job well lol) I think there is 4 of them, is £10 each too stingy? I already have chocs for the EA & Solicitors.

Right it's raining and blowing a gale out there again so I will do the shopping first and get that out of the way!

  • Yikes I didn't go far off my list above and I have spent £55.28!! Everything is so expensive it seems.
I spent £17 on gifts and cards though so I guess if I take that into consideration it's only £38.28. I don't really want to dip into the gift fund to pay for it though so it will be counted as groceries. I picked DD a small card up and a box of chocolates to say well done as well as cards for EA, Sol, and chocs for the removals instead of money so it worked out cheaper that way anyway. I also got some 'new home' cards for the buyer and seller. So 5 cards, 3 boxes of chocs not too bad I guess. No bubbly yet... I did get 2 dinners out of that and four lunches and snacks too, as well as a multi-purpose cleaner so I suppose it isn't too bad.

I bumped into a lady who I trained just before I left my old job in Mr T too- she's still there and can't find anything else locally. She looked and sounded pretty fed up by it and said she missed myself and the other supervisor (we were all a similar age and got on really well). The new supervisors are never to be seen and spend most of their time hidden away skiving. It made me glad, once more, that I am moving otherwise I would still be stuck there, because there really isn't any employment opportunities around here.

Still waiting on exchange. Still not walked the dog as it is so windy out there! I read the news this morning and realised it was storm Lilian not just a little bit of wind  I did wonder why my trees were bending in half! I might just walk him around the block and be done with it otherwise he doesn't settle and makes me feel guilty all day long with puppy eyes on me wherever I go.

I had child benefit this morning so taking that into account and also today's spends, I have £29.79 left. I will top this up with some money from somewhere to see us through to the 1st. I just haven't decided where I will take it from yet.

  • Hold the celebration....Exchange didn't happen. 🤨😐

Someone ...not mentioning any names (SOLICITORS at the very top of the chain) decided to go home early for the bank holiday weekend as all other solicitors in the chain sat down to exchange this afternoon.....by early I'm talking about 3:30-4pm.....

Unbelievable really. We had a manic afternoon with ourselves trying to chase it up, our sellers, our buyers also doing what they could....and lo and behold it was all for nothing as the auction solicitors at the top (who've pushed for the quick turnaround remember?!) went off home even though they knew we were supposed to exchange 🤣🤦‍♀️ all I can do at this point is sit in a corner and rock and laugh at my luck 🤣.

I had a feeling something was not going to go right although I didn't foresee this (if I'd had to guess at anyone holding it up it would have been the buyers at the bottom 🤣🤦‍♀️) AND to be honest...they did hold it up their deposit didn't clear quick enough hence why they were trying to exchange so late in the day.

    Never mind.

It will have to be an exchange/ complete on the same day jobbie now.
Or you'll find me still rocking in the corner if it doesn't all come about. 🤨🤣

DP is just packing his office up and I've done the media stuff and some oil lamps I totally forgot about behind the curtains 🙈 and they're all ready to go to the storage lockers tomorrow morning.

We pray 🙏 nothing goes awry on Tuesday now because we have removals booked as do both other parties and we're all expecting to move on that day 🤞🍀

Off to watch a movie now and have some downtime before bed - oh we took the bed down too so sleeping on just the mattress until we move!

  • Thanks @HotDog2020 & @beanielou I agree with both of your summaries of this...

Well the kids are home from camp  DD showed me all her pictures she had taken, she was tired and hungry...after telling me what they had been rationed for food all week I can see why. An example of their breakfast was 1 sausage, 1 hash brown, 1 spoonful of beans until lunch :hushed: DS came back really happy but equally as tired as his sister. I asked them to get their washing straight out and I made them a huge lunch in exchange for it. My kitchen smells like a wet dog now  I will work my way through it all before we move. I was hoping to peg it all out and let it dry over night but sadly it has already started spotting with rain and is super overcast. I won't risk it as need it dry through to pack tomorrow. So it will have to go into the tumble drier.

I have mostly packed the kitchen now too and we haven't a lot else to do. DP & I are having some downtime both sat on our laptops...this feels very strange considering we are moving in a couple of days  the calm before the storm? Or we are so efficiently prepared that it will all be fine? I guess I will find out...
The front room is empty of all boxes except one now. We took all else to the storage locker yesterday. We signed for it and handed notice in at the same time as you had to give 2 weeks notice :joy: so we have 2 weeks to move and pick it all back up. We handed over £65 but should be refunded half of that back he said. If we are out on time. I thought that was a pretty good deal to be fair. It wasn't as I expected it to be though, it was a warehouse full of wooden containers and they were stacked floor to ceiling. Our one had our name on it and the lid had been lifted off as well as one side. We then filled it and it was resealed and put back into place. I was expecting access to lots of rooms like I have seen on the tv before  I won't complain though we don't want to be in and out of there a lot, we want to store it and then retrieve it not use it as and when we want. Not sure it's very ideal for storing stuff long term and needing regular access, more for what we are using it for.

I had to shop today, we ran out of tea and coffee, I bought sandwich stuff as I knew the kids would be hungry and I got some YS fruit, We also picked up some bargains in the YS section on fizzy drinks that had come out of their packaging. So we spent £10 there - they were the healthy fizzy drinks with no sweetners or sugar, just fizzy water and fruit so I thought it was worth it. £1.68 for four of them! so we took all they had

Still waiting on the final solicitor's bill which we assume will come Tuesday morning now. Along with completion/ exchange :flushed: it best all happen then anyway....
We are dropping outdoor plants off to new house this evening (we've dug up everything we want now), and then we hope to do another load tomorrow of indoor plants. One of our lovely neighbour's just brought us some flowers from her garden which I thought was so sweet. She's a bit misunderstood round here and people tend to avoid her, I always chat with her on dog walks though and find her nice enough. I will drop her our new address with an open invitation and my number. Also need to do that with a couple of other neighbours we like.
Nothing else to report. It has been a pretty spendy couple of days with storage and Mr T (probably £100 between both) but to be expected. Not sure about tomorrow but we are having pizza takeaway in the evening, although I said I would be happy enough with a JP which is cheaper - I will see how harangued I am feeling tomorrow before deciding on that one. Desperately trying to keep costs down where I can but also being realistic about time constraints and the fact everything is packed

  • Oh and before this all changes I would just like to state my YNAB age of money is 28 days! I am not really sure what that means....but I know it won't stay that high when we have spent the money on removals and sol fee  so for posterity purposes I am recording it here!
