Morning all!
Thanks for popping in!
🎉 WE ARE IN 🎉
Yesterday was a super long and busy day and I didn't sleep well but I've a whole house to clean today so am refueling with some toast at the moment. The solicitors bill was wrong again yesterday!! The system hadn't updated. Right before we were due to complete we were handed the bill, unamended. 🤦♀️ We couldn't believe it. Then realised, yes, yes we could. So we tried to call the mortgage company and have the piece of paper missing sent over....no can do, our mortgage advisor didn't start till later in the day, and we were on hold for nearly an hour before being cut off. We gave up. We rang Bank of mum and dad (DPs) and begged for them to lend us the money as I had packed all my paperwork with the bank logins for my savings account so could not access them to transfer money back out. Omg. It was a palava. We paid. £4k!!! 😡
But we didn't want to hold up the chain. The removals had already packed our stuff up. And we wanted to be in at the other end.
So we did our bit. Borrowed on a temporary loan £1 k from DP dad.
Then we got to the new house. We were locked out. DP called the seller.... guess what 😐 he had also been hit with a redemption fee that he wasn't supposed to get. He was also porting the mortgage. .. he however, was refusing point blank to pay it and was livid. And he came back to the house and said we can't come in until it's sorted. Honestly I couldn't have even guessed things like this would happen 😐🤣. So anyway DP took him outside to calm him down and explained it had also happened to us. The mortgage company had apologised but as it was so late in the day we basically needed to pay it and then request a refund immediately. - yes because we can all pull £4k out of our back sides right- ....anyway he went off really upset (and we totally understood as it had happened to us TWICE!).
But the completion wouldn't happen with out the money so it had to be paid. I think it's really bad of the mortgage company to do this...it clearly happens more often than I thought.
Stress. Stress. Stress. At the 11th hour. I don't know where he got the money from but he went off to the new house where he was waiting on his keys, and we got a call to say we could get in to our new one. This was around 5pm literally as solicitors were closing. Thank goodness.
My sister came round and took the kids and dog off for lunch as we waited for hours. I was so grateful 🙏. I invited everyone over for dinner at ours when we got in and vans unloaded. I paid, so was quite a spendy day in all. But it was so nice as we have a lovely new kitchen diner and I could pull my table out so it was extended- and it can stay that way as it's so large in there. We couldn't do that in the last house.
Okay anyway, toast is gone, kids are up, I need to do the kitchen that's my mission today!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06.
