Milann’s mutterings through retirement

That was a spot of good luck with the chair. I hope your ankle gets better soon even though it did you a favour on this occasion.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping) -.literally have been run over by a bike, mobility scooter and a car - still here 💪0 -
There's a house near me that has an egg chair in their large entrance hall. It calls to me to come sit awhile. Recently the house has come up for sale and the egg chair wants me to buy it (I won't, because I don't want to move, I love my apartment which has a view of a sports-field where cricket is played in the summer and footie in the winter.)
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?2 -
Yes things happen for a reason. I got my egg chair which should go brilliantly in the garden of the new house we’ve just put a bid on……
The house we wanted had been taken off the market so we were a bit gutted. When we had the bids yesterday, we phoned the agent who was handling it and they contacted the vendors and they have accepted our bid. So we have the house we fancied ( providing everything goes through to plan.)
We had a couple of offers on ours yesterday and we accepted one for the asking price this morning 😯🥴😄 the estate agent just has to do a check on the purchasers but isn’t expecting any problems. It’s all getting very real.
Ds has applied for a job near his new house. If he gets it he was concerned about time lines as his house down there isn’t accessible yet and the builders won’t be able to start until September….by which time we’re hoping the planning permission will have been granted. So it’s all happening here. If ours goes through quickly aaaannnnnd he gets the job. He can live between us and Dd. With trips to his old house if anything needs doing re repairs and sales. Positive vibes please.

I hope the selling and buying all goes through smoothly and good luck to DS with the house move and new job.

Not sure where tie has gone. We’ve just had 6 nights in the North East of the country in Millie Motorhome. We had a lovely time visiting various museums and a Naval museum. We went to Si King from Hairy Bikers pie shop. It was delicious…DS came with us for the day too. The weather was a tad chilly and rainy though then turned into a heatwave once we were home.
Dd and her family came on Saturday and went home this morning so I’m shattered. Lots of camp beds to put up for everyone. I think Dd wanted to make sure she saw her childhood home one more time before we move but in reality she’ll probably be able to visit again in the school summer holidays. She’s actually lived down South longer than he’s lived here 🥴that’s quite a scary reminder of how quickly time flies. The estate agent says it averages 14 weeks for the sale to go through.
We’ve had paperwork to fill in for the house sale/purchase and we have a surveyor coming to check our house out tomorrow for our buyers. We’ve paid for the surveys on our new place but haven’t heard any more yet.
Millie Motorhome is going to go. We want a few things changing in the new place…. a bigger kitchen/ diner and we want a staircase into the loft area for storage. I don’t want a loft ladder. We’ll need to check it’s possible once we move in but SIL is an architect and seems to think it’ll be ok by looking at the photos. So the money we get from selling Millie will go towards the jobs. Plus I’m finding it very difficult to get up the caravan steps at the end of the day….and if Dh needs the loo in the night you want to see the performance as he has to clamber over me 🤣🤣🤣not a pretty sight in the early hours. Then we’re both awake for the rest of the night. I enjoyed the space when we stayed in a static van earlier in the year and if you pick your times it wasn’t a great deal more than paying for Millie Motorhome and you have teh use of the car in the daytime rather than using the buses or parking the van. Decision is made now we need to get things moving.
I’ve done nothing all day except go to aqua aerobics. I really enjoyed it. I can do so much more in the water….i can’t stand on 1 leg on land but with the support of the water can do it easily. It was lovely and cool but it’s way too hot for me and I’m melting. We’ve had the curtains closed and windows opened all day with a fan in the bedroom all day so I’m hoping it’ll be a tad cooler up there than down here when I head up in 10 minutes .
Night night

Good plan to sell Millie I think.

Yes I think so Beanie. I’m not fussed about going abroad in it and we’ll have lots of places to explore that we can visit in a day near our new house. I’d rather get the cash to put towards getting the house how we really want it. It’d be livable as it is but the kitchen is tiny and I’m used to an open plan room. We can create what we want with the extra money from Millie. We’ve had fun in Millie and I’ll be sorry to see her go in many respects but the time is right.
We’ve just been to the cinema to see The Sheep Detective….a daft film but it was good fun and the best thing was sitting a couple of hours with air con 🥵I’m not built for these high temperatures. We had a chuckle as youngest gdd keeps trying vegetarianism but in her 9 year old wisdom has decided to be flexitarian……basically if it’s something she likes she eats it….if she doesn’t like it she pulls out the flexi card. It’s actually getting her eating more veg but I suspect if she see the film she’ll be having another try at being veggie. I always do a veggie option for her as I’d happily support her if that’s what she decided she wanted to do.

Beanie she is a character and definitely has a mind of her own 😂😂😂😂 I think I’m going to enjoy being near them. She took a small bag of ribbon and fabric bits to ‘create’ with - you’d have thought I’d have given her a gold bar and she’s planning crafting session at Grandmas…can’t wait 😄
