Events have escalated and ds is very excited. Nothing will happen immediately but wheels are most definitely in motion……just waiting on paperwork. We need to do some serious thinking about what we’re going to do.I have paid my cc in full and been through my phone deleting all manner of messages…..mainly advertising junk. It has been saying my storage is 89% full and after selling me more. That’s my money saving thing for today as I have it back to 70% and there’s still plenty to delete 👍January spends - £587.585

What a week. My brother isn’t in good health and has lots of issues…..he had a hospital appointment today and has been told he will definitely need 2 lots of surgery. It’s his golden wedding anniversary at the end of the month and they were hoping for some nice quiet celebrations. The hospital has booked him in for Tuesday for the first lot of surgery as doc wants it doing asap…..he has to phone Tuesday morning to check there’s been no overnight emergencies- Normally it’s not a dangerous op but his other health conditions and his age make it so for him. Within the hour I’d had a message about my neighbour of over 40 years who had a funny turn ‘seeing things’ last week and her Dd made her go to docs…turns out she has an untreatable stage 4 brain tumour…..other than that she’s been in good health and busy looking after her Dh - the one everyone has been concerned about as he has Parkinson’s. Hope the saying about things coming in 3’s isn’t true.
We had a lovely day out today as we had free tickets to a caravan and motorhome show in big city nearby. So we went to our usual morning singing session, had breakfast in spoons then jumped on the tram to town. I love looking in the vans….some were spectacular with spectacular prices to match. We had tea in town to let the rush hour madness pass. I spent less than a tenner on drinks…..Dh treated us to meals 😀 We did get some ideas for places to visit with Millie Motorhome.January spends - £587.584 -
Sorry to hear about your brother and neighbours. I hope things go well for your brother if he has his op on Tuesday. 🤞
I've been getting those spam messages too about my online storage space getting full! I've been deleting them and they seem to have eased off a bit but very annoying!
Can't wait to hear about your forthcoming news!

Ds came around today. We had a lovely day….he had free coffee vouchers for JL…..there were 3 of us but he only had 2 drinks vouchers so i bought my tea and we shared cake but less than a tenner for 3 of us to have drinks and bit of cake…..bargain 👍
From there we went into big city and had pizza. A January half price offer at a small chain of about 6 outlets. I think they were the nicest I’ve ever tasted…..and the biggest 😯 there were enough left overs for a pizza box full and lunch for 3 tomorrow. £33 with drinks 😀 Maybe it tasted so goo because I’ve not had pizza for a good while…but 1/2 price would have been rude not to.
I’ve been crocheting hexagons for a throw and have made around 150. I’ve been trying to lay them out on the spare bed so that I can crochet them together. I spent well over an hour laying them out in a ‘random’ pattern. Next job to decide the best way to crochet them together….cant decide whether to join them with stitch markers and tackle it as a whole throw or crochet them into rows and then join rows. It’ll take me forever 😂😂
I have turned down several theatre invitations on my recent money saving endeavours. I’m trying to get a bigger emergency fund behind me. I’ve become a little extravagant with my outings of late.January spends - £587.586 -
Well it’s been an exciting time here over the last few weeks. I spend a lot of time with ds - we go out most weekends. Anyway where he works has been affected by redundancy as per government legislation to reduce staff. He was torn what to do but long story short he finishes work next week. My Dd lives down South and ds has contemplated moving down there several times over the years. When we were down at dds over Christmas ds looked at a house. It needs a LOT doing to bring it up to scratch. He has now bought said house he should get the keys the first week in February and will be moving down in the near future. It’ll be strange without him around here. The big question now is will we follow him down to be near the kids and grandkids. Soooooo…..we’ve been doing lots of thinking about the logistics of everything….its about a 6 hour drive. I want to be near my family but do I want to give my life up here. We’re not going to rush into any decisions. I’m 80/20 in favour of moving and I think Dh is 50/50. So that is what I’ve been mulling over…..everything happened very quickly in the end. Exciting and scary in the same measures.
I’m tightening the purse strings because if we decide to move the removal costs alone will be astronomical…..and then there’s the North/South divide with house prices
My brother had his op yesterday. He managed to phone me last night which I was impressed with. He sounded very groggy and managed 6 words just to let me know he was ok. Apparently he had a bad night and is in a lot of pain today….but that’s to be expected. Not sure when he’ll be home but I know they like people out asap.I went to Asd@ a couple of days ago. I bought Dh a lovely jumper for £9 in the sale. A new iron…..mine has been on the blink for a while now and it’s finally stopped steaming and a new mop along with some food shopping. It came to £80 and I used the savings I’d accumulated for Christmas but never got around to using. I still have £150 on the card 😀. It felt as though I hadn’t used any money 😀January spends - £587.586 -
I did wonder if the big news was to do with moving. I can understand your hesitation especially if you're happy where you are but also understand you wanting to be near your family. What a decision!
I'm glad your brother's op is over and done with. Hopefully he'll be more comfortable in the coming days.
Sounds like you made good use of some of your Christmas savings.

The pendulum of the moving decision is veering towards moving today…..dh has moved to 80/20 like myself. It might swing back the other way tomorrow. I haven’t tried to push him but he started conversation whilst we were in the garden centre cafe. Our next step will be to sort a problem we have with damp in the hall. It’s needed doing for a long time and the last lot of people we tried to get in to give quotes never showed then we never chased it up. I feel as if I’m on Love it or List it with Phil and Kirsty 😂😂 I saw a nice bungalow on line in the area we want to move to…..there’s enough room for Dh to have his railway in the garden and it’s within walking distance from both the kids and town and a big Tesco 😀. It’s a good walk into town but doable. I suspect it’ll be sold by the time we’re ready. Most of the properties around there are out of our league but we’ll keep our eyes open.I did some tidying this morning and I approve of my new mop. I’d set my ironing board up in the bedroom and was all set to watch Corrie whilst I ironed and there was no tv signal in the bedroom so the ironing is still waiting. Dh has sorted it 👍 I’m due to go to aqua at 8.15 so will do it before I go, there isn’t much but I’m determined to keep on top of things. We headed to the garden centre this afternoon and ended up spending money on a golden wedding rose and pot to put it in for my brother and his wife….I had no idea what to get them. Originally I was going to take them for a meal, but I’ll be very surprised if he’s fit to go for a meal at the end of the month. The physio has been around to him this afternoon, so all going in the right direction 🤞😁 We had our free drinks for January whilst we were at the garden centre and I spent £3.50 on a flapjack which we shared.
I made a big pan of spaghetti bolognaise for tea…..we haven’t had that for ages. Mainly because a lot of the supermarkets seem to compress the mince and I don’t like it and the butchers around here are rubbish, but I saw some whilst I was in Morrisons the other day. I’ll portion the rest up and freeze it later. There should be at least 4 more portions.Right the ironing board is calling me so I’d best go and get it done. Tomorrow will be my singing session in the morning and I want to put the damp job on trust a trader or similar. We’re not telling the kids we’re veering toward moving until we’ve found somewhere we like…I don’t want the pressure if we change our minds which is a possibility 😂😂🥴🥴😂😂January spends - £587.583 -
I don’t envy the decision you’re making. I think there will be lots of moving parts to manage.
I totally get what you’re saying about supermarket mince, the way it’s currently presented makes me feel nauseousMortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st 1lb determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. We had the first of the damp specialist out today….it sounds like an expensive job 😯 Just need to wait for the quote. We’ve got somebody else coming tomorrow and then another on Friday. The guy today seemed to know his stuff.A friend came around today and we looked at the power of attorney paperwork that I’ve had in the drawer for at least a couple of years….we’ve marked who needs to sign which pages for when the kids are at home in a couple of weeks. It’ll make it easier to get them signed. I want them doing before ds moves as it’ll be even harder to get somebody to sign who knows us all. It’s been a very lazy day today. I feel as if I need to start decluttering in a big way but I might be getting ahead of myself. I’m going to wait until the decision to move is definite.January spends - £587.583
