Cinema trip was good. I preferred the book to the film but that’s often the case. The trip to London was ok. I’d forgotten how much my fear of the escalators gets in the way there as I couldn’t face the underground. We decided to travel by bus and we’d also bought a 2 day ticket for a hop on and off boat, which I loved. I did enjoy when we got off the boat at Tower Bridge….i hadn’t realised you could actually go on a tour of the bridge. I really enjoyed it…I even braved a quick walk over the glass walkway 🥴😃 We walked around the perimeter of the Tower of London as I quite fancied seeing the poppies. But we only had a short time slot and it was around £35 each to get in 😳😳. We did see a few of the poppies which are viewed without pay the entrance fee. Dh said he only wanted to see the Crown Jewels not buy them. I’d forgotten how expensive attractions are…It might had been worth it if we’d have had more time but walking the perimeter was good enough 👍
Dh wanted to travel on the cable cars at The 02 Dome. I was going along with the idea but not relishing the thought…..that was until I actually SAW them and there was absolutely NO WAY I was going on them. So I had a lovely hour or so whilst he went on. He wasn’t going to go on his own and leave me but I knew it was something he’d been looking forward to so I bought him a ticket. He loved it. I know they were perfectly safe but where do these silly phobias come from….im getting worse instead of better. I was very impressed with myself at Tower Bridge…
It was a long drive both there and back as the traffic was horrendous in both directions
It’s nice to be home. I enjoyed what we did but won’t be in a rush to go back…
I’ll pay the cc in full for my Capital City spends….but I think we got excellent value for the things we did do.
Not much planned for the next few days but we’re off again down South on Thursday for a few days with dd and gks with family. I’ll do some baking to take with us….we all contribute something and usually have great fun.January spends - £587.584 -
I totally sympathise on the heights phobia. On my first date 20 years ago with now DH, we went to Leeds city museum, which is in two building joined by a glass walkway --- I held my breath and hurried over. I have no idea why holding my breath helps, but it does, lol. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?1

Just catching up on your diary. Hope your burns have healed well?

Relieved Sheff, I’m delighted with the way my arms have healed. There must still be a bit of damage in the layers skin below as the area still goes a Bluey colour if I’m cold. But no scarring. I honestly expected it to scar……just shows taking the heat out by keeping them cold really worked. And good old sudocrem as it was healing 😃
Satchmo….its totally irrational but the thought of escalators 😱 and dangling in a cab from a cable over the River Thames 🫣😱🫣. Yet I’ll happily fly with no problems. Doesn’t make sense….but that’s the way it is 😏
We went into our local town for a mooch yesterday as Ds wanted to see a new library !!!!!! cafe !!!!!! event space that has opened in town. I haven’t seen town as busy for a long time. No shops but lots of bars and cafes around. We came home and had our little curry club….something we haven’t done for a while. Ds brought a couple of curries he’d cooked and frozen in portions and Dh made a couple to freeze. It a good way of getting a variety as I like mild and the others like a hotter curry. It was very nice.
I went on a needle felting class a few weeks ago and the teacher fashioned a deer. She was very ambitious trying to teach it in 2 hours to beginners. Anyway we had a good laugh as mine and my friends looked like road kill 🤭🤭 It was bugging me so I dismantled it and bought the tool needed to finish it at home. So today was the day I tackled it. It’s not right by a long shot but it’s certainly better than it was. I think it needs to be much smaller…..and I’d already scaled it down from the size she suggested. I think I could get into this needle felting. We’re going on another course in a couple of weeks but this time it’s making a picture of some poppies. And now I’ve got the gear I can keep practising.
ive got an appointment with the local gym tomorrow for the scheme run by the local council to improve fitness. The doctor referred me a few weeks ago. I’m looking forward to getting back to swimming.January spends - £587.584 -
I had a phone consultation with a lovely gent from the Paris scheme….not sure what it stands for, but it’s a reduced price gym admission run by the council after doctor referral to get them moving. I was on the phone about 1/2 hour and then had a massive questionnaire to fill in. The gp had referred me as I had hypertension…..I do - but that’s not why I asked for a referral. She hadn’t mentioned any of the surgeries I’ve had or arthritis or my dodgy arm 😏 If I only wanted to use the gym and work through their tailored programme, it’s free and if I want to be able to use the pool or classes at 5 leisure centres it’s £22 a month. It’s not as nice as the last gym I used but the closest is at the corner of my road and about 1/2 the price. it’s the beginning of July before they can fit me in for an assessment.January spends - £587.583
