Milann’s mutterings through retirement

Forgot to say we has a phone call from the garage. They’ve had approval from the head office to do the work on the car’s heating system under warranty. I should think so too 🤨 It’s booked I for mid February. All I can say is thank goodness for the heated seats 👍January spends - £587.582

The roofers have virtually finished and it’s already looking so much better than it was. I hadn’t really realised how bad it was. It’ll look even better when the scaffolding comes down. They’ve just got something to finish at the top of the chimney stack but it was too wet for the mortar yesterday.I had a hospital appointment yesterday. Some of it was what I expected….he asked if I was ready to go on the list for surgery yet. I said I wasn’t. He has agreed to continue with steroid injections until they no longer have the same effectiveness. He did say when the time for surgery comes they won’t be able to do it at the hospital I go to but need to go to a more specialist hospital due to complications that could arise. He gave me the choice of 2 hospitals. One where my brother has had a lot of problems and the other where I already go with my arm so they have me on record and is supposedly the best. It’s where they pioneered hip replacement. It’s quite a long way but will be worth it when the time comes. So I’m on the list for another injection with him. It’s as an NHS appointment at a private hospital and the difference it makes seeing the same consultant every time is amazing. It’s just a pity I won’t be having him to do it when I need itOn my way to the hospital I walked through my favourite lockdown walk. I was early so called in the cafe for a cuppa. It run by a lovely eccentric lady with all sorts of donated odds and ends of furniture. I’d barely put my behind on the chair when the resident cat decided I looked warm and comfortable and sat on my knee and refused point blank to leave 😂😂😂😻😻January spends - £587.583

I thought you’d appreciate the cat photo Beanie. It was so funny….its a bit of a ramshackle building, it looks as if it was a sports changing room in a previous life. This lady and her partner have taken it on as a community project. I’m not sure who the cat belongs to but it was very much at home. A new lady came in and it moved from my knee to hers…..she doesn’t like cats and it was quite put out when the only way she could get it to move was to stand up 😂😂
I’ve had a bit of a tidy, vacuum and mop around but it’s not worth doing much else in the way of housework as there’s a fine dust everywhere. I’m hoping the scaffolding will come down on Friday and once that’s gone there will be no more mess and I’ll do a spring clean . The roofer is coming back to clean outside down once it’s gone and he said he will re point a few bricks and over a window for us….not sure if that’s extra or in with the price…but it needs doing so it’ll be what it will be.I had every intention of going out for a walk but cba. So I’ve been doing a survey…..I’m very close to cashing out so will be interesting to see if they suddenly dry up. I used to surveys a long time ago and got fed up with being screened out, but thought I’d give it another go. It’s taken a while but I’m nearly there.Dh has just messaged …..quite excited as it’s the first time he’s had a message from 🐙 saying he will get points to his account if he reduces consumption of electricity between 4.30 and 5.30 so I’m sitting with my candles on in my pre charged iPad. It’s quite relaxing 😄 We had a power cut last night from 8 until 10 ish. Dd had bought us hats with lights in for using on campsites in Millie Motorhome at Christmas. They came in very useful- I was in bed before 9 with a cuppa made by boiling the water on the gas hob and read a book via hat torch light. It was really nice. It brought home to me just how much tv I watch. 🥴🥴

I don’t mind the cats but they do make me sneeze. I washed my hands straight away because if I’d have rubbed my eyes after touching a cat theyd have swelled up.
They came to collect the skip today but wouldn’t take it as the roofer had filled to too much. After much oooohing and ahhhing by the driver, the roofer was phoned and the decision to unload some and take it at fill level was made. We now have a pile of rubbish in the front which the roofer will take in his van. He did say he was pushing his luck filling it so much but hoped they’d take it. He is coming back after the scaffolding comes down to give everywhere a proper clean up…..I was quite impressed…Will see how good a job he does. The scaffolding should be coming down over the next couple of days but with the high winds forecast tomorrow I can’t see that happening. It’ll be safer to keep it in situ than trying to manoeuvre long poles aboutNot much to report. It’s been very rainy here so I’ve not ventured out of the house. Nothing has left my purse or credit card 😄January spends - £587.582 -
We still have scaffolding. I’m hoping they’ll start dismantling it tomorrow.I want to do a major clean inside the house but there’s a film of dust after the work and I suspect they’ll be dust particles when they take the scaffolding down so I’m doing the bare minimum until we’re back to normal then I’ll have a very early spring clean everywhere.Tomorrow I’m having my hair chopped. I’m not sure how I’ve managed not to get the scissors to my fringe.
I had a rubbish nights sleep last night -I just couldn’t get comfortable. So I made the most of it and got 3 lots of washing done and 4 lots dried(I’d already washed 1 lot) all at the 7p a unit overnight. I didn’t intend to stay up until 4.30 but since I couldn’t sleep just kept getting up and loading either the washer or drier. Might as well take advantage of being awake. I had intended doing the washing over a couple of nights but it’s all done for now 😄 I did have quite a deep sleep once the last lot went in at 4.30 until 8 am. I’ve had a lazy day today.
We watch a box set over the weekend. Missing Me. I really enjoyed it and recognised lots of places where it had been filmedJanuary spends - £587.583 -
I had my hair chopped on Monday and it feels much better.Tuesday I went on the tram to see my brother. Stopped off in the big city on my way home to get ds a birthday card. I had a jacket potato and cuppa in M&S and really enjoyed it. I got on the bus to my knit and natter which was quite an experience. There is a fleet of new buses near me and up until now they’ve all had a screen with the bus stops on show. I was approaching the wool shop for the totally opposite side of the world from my usual journey and don’t know that area very well. This bus didn’t show the upcoming stops and the journey was longer than I expected and it was dark so I didn’t have a clue where I was 😂😂 the lady next to me must have recognised I was looking for somewhere and struck up a conversation. Anyway luckily she was getting off at the same place as me so we relaxed and chatted the rest of the journey. I’ll know where I’m going next time as it worked out well going out before the knitting group then Dh only needs to pick me up rather than dropping me off too👍
I didn’t actually do much knitting as my arm was really swollen after being out most of the day. I have phoned the consultants secretary and they’re sending me an appointment….it’s intriguing me as I can do some things no problem but not others at all.
I was out with Ds for his birthday yesterday- we stayed local and had a curry back at his house because we’re going out for a meal today so that Dh can come too as he was working yesterday.
The scaffolders came at 8 am this morning and it was all down before 10 am that included them having a cuppa too……tea for 7 ☕️🫖😳and they demolished a tin full of biscuits. I do believe in looking after the workmen though 👍 they were very organised. It took 2 days to put around the 2 houses and less than 2 hous to take down…..there were scaffolding poles flying everywhere 😂🥴🥴
I’m planning a mega clean up from tomorrow…..the builder is coming back to give outside a cleanup at some point…..hopefully today.January spends - £587.582 -
Happy new roof
Hope your arm is feeling better soon.1
