Definitely not the weather to be going without heating in the car.

I wonder if you have the same model as our neighbour because they have had trouble with the heating on that as well as several other issues!!

Yay I’ve caught up with your diary. I was sorry to read that your friend passed away ❤️ life is certainly cruel at times.
You have been very busy though and I’m glad you had a good Christmas, I hope the new roof goes on ok and you get your car sorted too xx

They’ve started taking the tiles off the roof today. We have a skip in the front garden and I’ve made numerous cuppas for the workmen. My thinking is if you look after them they (hopefully) look after you. Let’s hope this milder weather lasts. The lorry delivering the roof tiles has just arrived and it’s quite fascinating watching them being unloaded. Dh had such plans to sort his train track out whilst the work was happening…..we’ve brought lots of track and buildings in. Dh went to get his tools out of the shed…..guess what….theres a scaffolding post in front of the door and we can’t open the shed at all 🥴 It’ll get done in time.
It’s been an odd few days since I last posted. We took a Christmas present back to M&S which didn’t fit Dh. They gave us a credit note for the full amount which we were more than happy with as we didn’t have a receipt. There wasn’t much that grabbed his fancy so will spend it another time. We had a drive around and we’re going to go into a local NT place for a mooch around inside. It was closed because of the ice. It was treacherous. It was slightly closer to the airport than we are and the snow was so much thicker so I can appreciate why the airport was closed. We went and had Dh free coffee from 🐙 instead, so only paid for my cup of tea. Sunday we had a trip to c@stc@ and split several things with ds. Bargainous at £22. Think it might be the least I’ve ever spent there. Back at ds he cooked us a lovely turkey dinner…..think it tasted even better because he got it reduced from £45 to £4.50 on New Years Day. One of the fresh turkey crowns that was vacuum packed…..complete with all the trimmings. We brought enough home with us for tonight too.
A friend came around yesterday for a cuppa then I met a different friend and took her for a free cream tea - a voucher from JL. Bogof cream tea…..but at £8.40 would have been nearly as cheap to go elsewhere at full price. It was worth every penny though to get her out…
Tomorrow I’m seeing a friend and we’re going to a different NT place for a walk around and lunch.
We’ve managed to get the Wii fit working so when the workmen go I’m going to have a go. I’m expecting them to finish before 4 as it starts getting dark early at this time of year….not having them chuckling at me prancing about to the Wii…I feel as if I’ve not done any exercise for a long time. My arm isn’t up to swimming and it’s been too icy to go for a walk. I’ve just made some chicken and veg soup and I couldn’t even stir the pan with my bad arm…it’s really strange the things I can do and the things I can’t. It must be delicate movements from a certain position that’s the problem. I’d hoped it would have sorted itself by now. It’s over 2 months since it started giving me agro.

That's so annoying about the arm milann - makes me feel that I've been incredibly lucky with mine where I broke my elbow years ago, although there are a few things I can't go it mostly doesn't affect me too much at all, thank goodness. I'm sorry you've not been as fortunate.

Your christmas pie sounds like  an excellent idea - allowing I have the relevant components I may have to do something similar!

The roofers are working hard. I’m already fed up of my dirty windows though…..I’ll be glad when it’s finished. They seem decent guys and very polite and appreciative of the brews I’ve been making them. There’s a fine layer of gritty dust everywhere too…..no point flogging a dead horse and trying to dust every day……I’ll have a mega clean when they’ve finished.
i went out with a friend to a NT place yesterday. We had a tasty bowl of soup and lovely walk in the sunshine. It was so good to see some blue
sky. The snowdrops were beginning to flower and daffodils were popping up…..Spring is around the corner 😁 We came the scenic route home and called into a garden centre. They had a sale in the shoe section and I bought a pair of my favourite brand of boots 😁
Tomorrow I’m going on a felting course….I haven’t tried it before and not sure if I’ll manage it with my arm but nothing ventured nothing gained. I’d booked before Christmas and had to cancel because of the chest infection. I’d have preferred to go before Christmas as it was a Christmas decoration…..this time it’s a mushroom 🤷🏻‍♀️ can’t say that thrills me or a picture. Not sure if you have to have had experience to do the picture I’ll see what she says.

Went to the building society this afternoon and transferred my isa that had finished last week to a new 1 year fixed. It’s dropped in interest to 4.1% and I know there are better online accounts out there but I like to use an actual bank/society where I can speak to the people and know I’ve not been scammed or pressed the wrong button. I’ve kept 1/2 the interest in that account and transferred 1/2 toward building the savings up that I’ve used to pay for the new roof. It’ll take a while to build it up again as I’m enjoying myself and doing things I like but I will build it up again to where it was pre roof 👍

I’m the opposite to you and if I can’t do it via an app I’m not interested 😆 That’s not a bad rate of interest though, they’ve all gone down recently.

The roof is coming along nicely. They’ve worked on it all weekend and are here today again. Hopefully it’ll be finished before the bad weather they’ve forecast at the end of the week.
I had a nice weekend. We went for a couple of walks….on Saturday we drove to a place across the Pennines. We walked around a lake which we’ve never been to before. We stopped for a rest and a cuppa part way round.  It made a nice change to go somewhere new. There is a ‘spoons nearby we have been to before and we wanted to see if the big fire in there was lit. It’s a big round pub with a fire in the centre….it wasn’t lit. We walked around a couple of times but it was chocka block….not a seat to be had anywhere. We headed a few hundred yards along the road and found another perfectly adequate pub, where I treated us to tea. So £40 spent, but it was worth it as we’d had a lovely day.
Ds was driving and I’m so pleased it wasn’t me. As we started on the road home that takes us across the tops of the hills. The fog came down….ive never been in such thick fog and it’s a very winding road that drops in places 😳 I do think we went over 10 miles per hour…..you could literally only see the cats eye in front of you. There were no other cars ahead of us but there were a few following……when we got to the end of the fog they all beeped gently for a thanks for leading the way. I’ve never been so scared in the car 😳😳😳 We we’re glad to get back to civilisation and street lights. It’s a beautiful drive on a summers day but not so much in the fog.
Today my friend has been round for a coffee. I need to do a bit of ironing and put it away. I’ve got a knack of tipping the iron so I don’t need to lift it. I’ve got a hospital appointment tomorrow afternoon about my hip. Talk about falling apart at the seams.
