Happy New Year.
I’ve contemplated resolutions but decided to only go with one. Enjoy Life 👍
To enjoy life I need to keep as healthy and mobile as possible and stay more or less as I am financially. I need to socialise with people and keep my environment a pleasant place to be. I need not to stress about things…..it doesn’t make anything any better and I need to appreciate the people and things in my life.I think I’m going to try and keep this my outlook from now on. Some things have happened recently that have made me sit back and take stock so I’m giving a new mindset a go 👍
We have been having the electricity trip out over the last few months but Dh has done something to the fuses and it’s sorted itself for a while. This morning it tripped again and he couldn’t sort it. It took Dh ages going around plugging and unplugging things but every time it was reset it tripped again after a few minutes. After about an hour of messing about it finally worked ok and so far so good 🤞🤞🤞 I expect we might need a re wire soon 😳 I can’t say I relish the thought. We probably should have had it done several years ago when we had a lot of work done on the house…..hindsight is a wonderful thing but we couldn’t afford it at the time. Dh was stressing out but I reminded him it’s repairable. It is what it is. It’ll probably mean the cruise we were thinking of will have to be put on hold. I’m hoping it’ll last until tomorrow when electrician rates won’t be at bank holiday rates 🤞
Dh picked his sister up on Monday- I’d made a buffet for us. She made me laugh as she says she doesn’t eat much…..3 big plate fulls and 2 plates of dessert later and I can say she enjoyed it. Part way through the afternoon she became very confused and was calling my Dh her Dh name. I’m wondering how long she can continue to live at home as she refuses any outside help….Ive been in touch with her Dd. We think she may be forgetting to eat. Alzheimer’s is an awful illness.
Yesterday we’d half planned a trip to the seaside for a walk followed by fish and chips and a drive along the illuminations which finish at weekend. We decided since the fireworks that should have taken place last night were cancelled due to bad weather, that we didn’t want to to battle the elements. Ds came here instead and we had a lovely roast dinner, watched a film, played board games and had a mini buffet to see the new year in. We did nip around to Morrisons as I’d forgotten to buy eggs and picked up some yoghurt and crumpets for coppers each 😁
Mmmmmm we’ve just watched the Royal Institute Christmas Lectures…..it’s aimed at children but was quite interesting….The truth about food 👍
No spends planned for today 😁January spends - £587.584 -

To enjoy life is a great resolution. Our house needs re-wiring at some stage. When we had the new kitchen, bathroom and central heating they said it needed doing then changed their minds and did a work around. I wish I’d insisted as it would’ve all been over and done with. I know it’s a big expense and lots of upheaval 😞I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Thanks Sun Addict. I’m currently reading through your diary as I’m on catch up. Im up,to Christmas Day 👍
I can’t believe the rain we’ve had in the past 24 hours. There is a lot of flooding. An old mill has been converted into flats over the past few years and only opened a few months ago. It’s flooded and the cars in the carpark are submerged to various degrees….even made the news. It’s right next to Mr T supermarket where I regularly go to. The gym I have membership for has had to close as it’s flooded. The Go Outdoros where I visited on Tuesday has had to close as that is flooded….thats only a couple of minutes walk away. They built a new road several years ago towards the airport and that’s flooded again…..this has happened several times. I can understand cars getting submerged when they’re static in a carpark but don’t quite get how they become submerged in moving traffic. I suppose they can’t turn around as it’s a duel carriageway and once you’re on there there’s no way out 😳 I’m very pleased we made the decision to stay at home and not visit the seaside place yesterday.
A very lazy day today I’m trying to catch up on diaries as I don’t take my iPad when we go to dds.I’m pleased to say the electrics have behaved since the scare they gave us this morning. I hope the rain sorts itself before we have the roof done in a week or so 😳 I want dry weather once the roof is off 🤞🤞January spends - £587.584 -
At least you have Millie the motor home as a back up if need be. The rain here hasn’t been too bad it’s just been the wind. It’s always windy where we are as we are so high up with no windbreak.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

It’s a beautifully sunny day here today. Dh had to take the car in to sort the heating that hasn’t been working out. He took his bike with him and rode home along the path by the river. He said there were still many parts that were just about passable after the raised levels of water yesterday and the river was very high. He showed me a photo of some railings which were full of leaves and rubbish a good 4 ft high and they’re a fair way from the riverbank - debris from the raised water. I was very surprised it has receded so quickly, after seeing photos yesterday…… made me think that the flood gates further down stream hadn’t been opened in time then once they were opened there was a big big drop in water levels…..I’m only guessing but it makes sense to me. I used to go to school along a road where a couple of hundred people were evacuated from a hotel……the road used to regularly flood but it hasn’t been bad since the introduction of the flood gates…..so why did they flood yesterday if the gates were opened 🤷🏻♀️ I know we had a months worth of rain in 24 hours but the flood gates expel onto golf courses and into a massive lake with lots of open ground around it.Anyway I’m hoping for a nice warm car once it has been repaired. No cost as it’s under warranty- we reported the problem a day or so after receiving it but have had to wait for space in the repair department. No spends for me today. We have spent a lot of time bringing all Mr Ms railway track and buildings into the house. We don’t want anything dropping onto it when they do the roof. The track has an intermittent fault so Dh hardly uses it. Whilst it’s in he is going to sort it all. It’s scary just how much there is……no idea where it’s going to go 🥴😳 Once it’s back outside I’m going to have a mega clear out……bringing everything in this morning’s made me realise just how much junk (insert a little word beginning with c and ending in p) every available space we used to have it full 😳😳😳 Annnd most of it isn’t mine. I think left to his own devices Dh would live in a tiny space with the rest of the house piled high in stuff. Crazy 🤣🤣🤣……but not for much longer 😜January spends - £587.584

Do has gone to pick the car up. It still won’t be warm as they’ve had to order parts 🤬 No idea how long we’ll have to wait. At least it’s being sorted at no cost.January spends - £587.580

Isn't it funny how in most couples it always seems to be the man who loves to hoard and hang onto stuff 'just in case' and never can see clutter! My exception is gay men I know, have known, whose homes are always tidy and clutter free! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

It should have been singing this morning but we’re having a Christmas break. One of the ladies invited everyone around to hers for croissants and cuppas so have had a lovely morning. Dh dropped me off and picked me up.£15 spent on milk, bread and a pair of fleece lined leggings. Not sure what they’ll be like but for £10 I’ll give them a go. I also got a pair of pillow cases for £1.50. I’m trying to build my bedding supply up so I can put the washing on overnight for cheap electricity. At the moment I wash, dry and get it back on the bed on the same day.January spends - £587.582
