There is definitely a SW thread on here.  It's been going a few years now and there are several of us who have been on there since the beginning.  Link:  https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6563697/still-time-to-lose-in-2024-with-slimming-world#latest.

Would be good to see you both on there.  Everyone is very welcoming and happy to give you syn values if you need them.  I haven't been going to group for nearly a year now.  I haven't managed to get back to target but at least I've haven't put loads on!  I've been within a few lbs of target range all year so not too bad.

  • Caught up with your diary milann!
So pleased to hear Mr Milann is finally retiring and you've got a nice cruise to look forward to next year!⛴️
I hope using the pool at the bottom of your road works out for you. It certainly will be a lot cheaper than your current gym. If the SW classes aren't working then give them a miss and save some cash. You can always try the SW link above per @joedenise's post to see if that will give you some motivation instead.

  • Good plan to focus on health markers like getting in movement you enjoy and trying to eat in a balanced way milann - certainly can't do any harm can it! I really wish we had a decent pool closer - I'd definitely do more swimming if we did, as it is though our local leisure centre is not great and also expensive, and the two nearest pools that are decent are both far enough away to make it inconvenient enough to put me off going!

Thanks everyone. You’re right Beanie I was on The SW threads on here and will probably go back onto them. I’d paid for a 12 week countdown which should have taken me to Christmas but it must be 4 weeks since I was last there as I’d had a chest infection and then my friend passed away and I just wasn’t feeling it. I haven’t even had a message from the group leader  to see if I’m alive, dead or just not bothered. My old group leader was so much more on the ball…..it’s just a pity the day doesn’t work for me anymore. This one needs a kick up the backside to motivate everyone….apparently SW have given her 3 months to improve her results. I can’t blame anyone but myself though as it’s me who puts the food in my mouth…..but a bit of encouragement from the lady I’m paying wouldn’t go amiss.
I have been off the boil recently but do mostly eat home cooked meals….its just the eating out ther scuppers me. New year new start. I’m not keeping any food diaries as I have tried previously as I just set myself up to fail….just home cooking using more vegetables, lentils and pulses with my usual lean meats. I’ll have cake but make my own….same for biscuits. If what they say about UPF is true….and I strongly suspect it is …it’s got to be good for me 👍
It’s been quite a week. I’ve hardly stopped. I’ve iced 5 Christmas cakes, made 55 mince pies (mmmmmmm…I wonder why I don’t loose weight) Not all for me by the way 🤣 Cleaned the house…..went to friends funeral, which was both sad and lovely at the same time. I’ve been into the big city to finish my Christmas shopping. A Pyrex style dish I’ve had since I got married decided to shatter for no apparent reason as I was getting it out of the cupboard….shattered fragments everywhere. So the cupboard which was only cleaned properly at the end of November has had to be emptied and EVERYTHING washed in the dishwasher….the places the shards got to and the distance it travelled amazed me. I could have really done without it though.
This afternoon I’ve been to a man from singings house to practise a song we’re performing at a party on Saturday. It was quite a nice afternoon as there were 4 of us and it was lovely to meet his wife who is housebound. Tomorrow is singing in the morning followed by a trip to my brother’s house. A shopping session in the big Asd@ at the corner of his road. I have £40 to spend on my Christmas rewards and £300 I’ve been saving all year. I have no intention of spending it all though….that'll do me for a couple of months. Then we’re going over to see my SIL who has just been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s so it’ll make for an interesting day 🥴 We keep getting phone calls from her asking the whereabouts of deceased relatives…..it’s so sad as it upsets her every time she realises she’s forgotten. I think we’re going out to eat with her.
Saturday is the Christmas party from singing. Sunday getting the house and van sorted for the journey to dds with an early start on Monday….we’ll be back on Friday I think.
In between everything else I wrote to the PM. A letter of disapproval about the misleading way he has treated folk by not following through with the things he led folk believe he would. I’ve totally lost all confidence in politicians in general. I know my letter won’t matter to him but it made me feel better.
I’m heading over to see my friend this evening. He son has gone back to his home so a bit of company and reminiscing might be in order. Lots of things going on getting things in place for the funeral but then it falls flat as reality sets in.
Every year I say I’ll be organised and not on the last minute. I was doing so well before life got in the way and I got a chest infection. I’m still better than I have been some years though so all is well.
If I don’t get chance to get on here before Christmas. Have a healthy and peaceful one everyone 🎄🥂🎅🏼

I think most of us are the same re organisation Milann, the intentions are there then life gets in the way. I don’t trust any politicians they are all exactly the same once they get in power 😞

    Have a great Christmas 🎄

I’ve just arrived back home from being out since 9 am. I did everything I set out to do so am a happy bunny.
After years of having a dishwasher and Dh insisting on washing things by hand….he has suddenly decided to start using it overnight on the  🐙 7p per kw tariff we have for charging the car. It has tickled me. He is monitoring everything 😂🥴I think he may drive me mad with it 😂If he thinks I’m setting an alarm to use the dryer in the middle of the night he knows what he can do😂😂. It has been mentioned in jest as the dryer doesn’t have a delay button but he is going to get a fancy plug to accommodate it.
Next door have just been in and they’re having a new roof and asked us if we want ours doing at the same time…..decisions, decisions. It would make sense.

Does it make it cheaper to have it done at the same time? was it something you were planning to have done anyway?

  • Wow!  You have been busy!  5 Christmas cakes and 55 mince pies!  Shame about your Pyrex dish smashing seeing that you've had it for so long.
The 7p overnight charging rate for the car is very good.  My DD has it and takes advantage on charging up household things.
A friend of mine had her house extension and new roof done in conjunction with their next door neighbour. Saved oodles of cash doing it this way.
Well done too on writing to the PM - I entirely agree with what you wrote!😡
