Milann’s mutterings through retirement

MFwannabe. It’s going to be £5000 and would have been an extra £500 if we weren’t having it done together. We have decided to go ahead. The same company did the 2 houses opposite a year or so ago so we know they work hard and have done a good job. One of the houses in the next avenue had a new roof at the same time but only one of the semis….it looks so much better when they’re both done together. It would need doing soon as it’s a 1930s house and lots of houses round and about are having to have new rooves. It wasn’t planned but makes sense to do it….the new suite and decorating I was thinking about might have to wait a bit longer.
I went to the singing group Christmas party yesterday. All the groups he does were together so there were over 100 folk. It was brilliant and all for £5. Each group put some singers up to do ‘a turn’ I was volunteered with some others for ours. I was quite pleased we came 2nd 😂 I could hear myself saying it would be nice of one of us signed as well as singing. One of those situations where you realise you’ve said something without putting the brain in gear. I was surprised how rusty I’d become. But it all went well on the day.
The van is packed, the house is clean…another 55 mince pies have been made to take with us. Sooo…..we’re ready for the off tomorrow.
Have a lovely Christmas everyone 🎄🎅🏼🎄🎅🏼🎄❤️January spends - £587.585 -

So it’s all been and gone for another year. We had a lovely time but I was pleased to spend a relaxed day at home today. I did meet a friend for a walk and cuppa this morning and it was lovely to get to some sort of normality. The journey to dds was great no particularly bad traffic we did it in about 7 hours but had an hour long stop for dinner. The journey home took over 8 hours with a 15 minute loo stop. Most of the travelling was ok but we must have been 2 hours on the M25 😳. I wish they lived closer. It was worth the journey to see everyone though. We had some lovely walks by the sea and played lots of board games. The difference in biggest gdd was noticeable….growing up fast and wanting clothes instead of toys. Everyone was very pleased with their presents and I was very spoilt. Tomorrow we are going out for one of our presents into the big city nearby for tapas followed by The Halle Orchestra playing Queen. I’m looking forward to it.They think they’ll be starting doing the roof on 10th January…..just waiting confirmation about the scaffolding 😬 hope the weather isn’t too cold. We might have to have a local trip away in Millie Motorhome if it is 🥴January spends - £587.585

Yesterday was fabulous. We met ds in big city and had tapas at a place I’d never heard of but it was the best tapas I think I’ve ever had. A quick 10 minute stroll across town to the venue where we watched the Halle performing Queen songs. The singers were brilliant and with the backing of the musicians was great. I wasn’t sure how it would pan out but Bohemian Rhapsody in particular was awesome. The trams were totally rammed as the folk left the venue and tried to get on so we went for a drink for 1/2 hour then got on empty trams.
About £20 was spent on drinks and a taxi from the tram station home. I wasn’t walking at 11pm - we have in the past but I know my limits.
im doing a buffet today and Dh is going to pick his sister up later…..could be an interesting afternoon 🥴January spends - £587.583 -

Glad to hear you had a lovely Christmas with the family milann. ❤️
Your eldest DGD reminded me of my friend and her DGD recently. My friend was talking to her on the phone as her DGD doesn't live close and asked her what she wanted for Christmas. DGD said she would 'like some things from Sephora' - the big beauty/cosmetics retailer. She also wants to be 'an influencer' now when she grows up. She's nine years old! My friend said she was still into Barbies not so long ago!

The Queen concert sounds fabulous, another Queen fan here. My 10yo DGD is obsessed with skin care and cosmetics. I bought her a huge Sol de Janeiro set for Christmas and she was over the moon with it. DD bought her false nails 🤣 My parents would’ve had a fit if I’d asked for things like that at her age! I can remember my mum not being happy when I saved up my pocket money to buy some eyeliner pencils at 12.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0
